What can you tell me about... (1 Viewer)

Had the best 40 (4.42), vertical (41 1/2") and shuttle drills of all the LB's. Black also played Urlacher's old position of "loboback" at New Mexico.

I've read that's he projected to go anywhere from 2nd to 7th. What gives with this guy??

I watched Black a lot at the Shrine Game practices. His combine was not surprising, he was definitely the most athletic LB on the West squad, and rivalled Justin Durant for most athletic in the game. He played the same S/LB hybrid position as Brian Urlacher, which makes him well suited for a cover 2. Black stayed late after practices working with Mike Singletary a lot that week in Houston, which only says good things about him. Here's my final notes on Black from the game:

Quincy Black, UNM – Black read plays well and burst into the RB, and fought off blocks in run defense, which is an impressive skill for somewhat slight LB like Quincy. He closed very well and moved well in coverage. He has improved to an early 2nd day pick.

So many of these guys are "team specific" guys with a formula for success: (Right Guy) + (Right System) ='s [(Right Opportunity) + (Right Coaching)] - (Injury Bug) ='s SUCCESS

What we're discussing here is the Right Guy and Durant and Black are right guys. How good they become depends on the rest of the factors.
