What did you get for Christmas? (1 Viewer)

Got the greatest gift ever. My wife suggesting that we look into buying a condo and bringing my mom up from Dallas. My brother lives down there and has helped out immensely in many ways but he just got laid off last week. Might be time for us to step in. We help out financially but this is a huge difference. Gotta love a wife who is willing to step up like that. I'm a lucky man.
Thanks Santa!

Made out pretty darn well this year:

Bottle of Macallan 18 year

Bottle of Crystal Head Vodka Aurora Edition (Super cook looking skull)

Bottle of Curious

Bottle of Bib & Tucker Bourbon

Super Sexy "Ugly Christmas" Eagles Sweater Vest

Quite a few books

The entire Alone in the Wilderness DVD Set

Some fancy designer jeans (pretty sure I can qualify as a hipster now)

Couple LL Bean sweaters

nice pair of Baffin winter boots

Didn't ask for much as a I buy things all year.

Got my 3 dozen balls that should last all golf season and my wife got me a keurig.

I don't like them as they are freaking expensive but she got the use your own coffee thing and I love it :bag:

My travel mug is a 1/4 inch too high thiugh. Damn it

Big fan. Are the follow ups equally good? I'm not sure I've seen all of them
I have only seen Part 1/2 that they show on PBS. Very much looking forward to the others and if I get a chance I will accidentally rip them and then accidentally put them in a dropbox folder and then accidentally share that folder.
If you do I may accidentally watch that

Material stuff: star wars movies, star wars retro t-shirt, bottle of glenmorangie, handle of crown royal, madden 16, sw battlefront, dress shirts, binoculars.

Important stuff: playing silly dice games with my daughters, enjoying a delicious brisket prepared by my wife, building legos with my nephew, and taking the dog on a late afternoon long walk in fresh snowfall without another soul around.

Wife got a new Buick Enclave. I got a new laptop

Wife got a new Camaro.  I got a set of wrenches.

Far Cry 4 with headphones for my PS4.

Duluth Trading lined flannel shirt/jacket.

Bottle of Bulleit bourbon.

USMNT scarf.

Other random stuff I asked for including some funky socks.

Beats headphones

Disney Book - history of all things Disney

This bad boy:excited:

Skip to :53 - when I opened the box and heard that I could have immediately taken my wife in the other room and given her 30 seconds that would have made my 16-year old self proud.

fancy pillow i have no interest in or need for that my daughter has already stolen from me.

Which is fine, because I bought my son an xbox which means I have an xbox now.

Zero. Nada. Zilch. I got absolutely nothing.  Unless you count the Christmas themed cheese dish my mother in law gave to my wife for both of us.

Membership to a tennis club with the wife and block time.

Guess the wife is either trying to tell me she wants me to get in better shape or she wants to bang the tennis pro.

Definitely one of those though.

aside from some new threads, wife got me Death Star, Han in carbonate, and millenium falcon ice mold for my whiskey.

A tin of popcorn with regular, cheese and caramel flavors.
That was all.

When does Christmas as a Dad get back to the cool #### you guys got above?

We don't exchange much and spend most of our Christmas budget on the kids.  With that said, I got some off brand VR headset, which I am pretty shuked at what I can do with it.

look for VR apps for your phone.

Discovery Channel has an awesome one. Lots of roller coaster and space themed ones. Fox sports has a football one where you can see views from on the sidelines.

and then there is always VR P0rn  :bag:

The one I got (Noon) seems to only be able to use its own content as part of the headset, and it appears to be pretty limited.  I haven't opened it yet, and will most likely return it.  If I keep it, I'm guessing I'll have 30 minutes of set up and configuration, 15 minutes of trying to get the headset working, 20 minutes of finding something worthwhile to watch, and 5 minutes of psuedo fun.

intersting. never heard of it, but just did some research and thats a pretty pricey VR set given the market. I see a lot of the cost is creating an VR environment to keep you in which is interesting—more of a content provider than just the hardware/headwear. But i'm sure you can 'use' it with other 3rd party VR apps, b/c the each app would have the capabilities of head tracking and such built in.

you tube also has VR/360 content that you can use with it. We own an inexpensive 360 camera that we take to theme parks and record the rides then the kids can watch them with the headset at home and sort of 'relive' it.

But even still, if its not your thing, then its not your thing. And a $15 headset won't get much more play then a $100 one.
