My dog had a run in with a skunk last November. She stunk for weeks.
Been cautious letting her out at night and no sightings since.
Friday night get a call from my daughter. Dog saw movement out on the back deck and goes barking at the door. The skunk is back and sprayed the patio door. Dog must have remembered as she immediately went and hid under the table, shaking like a leaf. House still has some smell inside.
So I buy a box trap yesterday and with the help of google find out to use peanut butter on a piece of bread, I now have a trapped skunk. Didnt think it would be this easy and really didn't think it through of what I'd do if I caught one. I planned on shooting it with a .22 rifle but family is not allowing that. Worried someone will call the police and I'd be going to jail. I guess the fine may be pretty high since I live in a subdivision.
I've read about filling a garbage can and throwing the trap in there to drown it. But who wants to be the one to go pick up the trap with a pissed off skunk?
Called one place and he wants $150 to remove it. Another guy only wants $50 but it'll be days before he can make it here.
Anyone deal with this and handle it themself?
