I'm going nuts trying to pick between VJax and Floyd. I am leaning towards Floyd, but I just know it will be the wrong decision.
Hey Kutta, I am wrestling between these two as well as Big Mike and Ward for my 2 spot.I liked Floyd last weekend but Vjax looked good. Don't forget that long play that got called back due to penalty. He should have been 3 for 75 with a 2nd half that didn't feature a lot of passing. Vjax appears to be back IMO, and if thst's the case I am rolling with him over Floyd. To me there's more of a chance Floyd comes up gimpy on that hammy than Vjax getting hurt again. He does have a full game under his belt now.I have Rivers as my Qb so I need to assume he's going to have a good game. If he does, you would think both of these guys would be startable. I got with Bloom on yhis exact topic and he said you got to go with who's got the most talent in this situation, which is Vjax confirming what I have in my starting lineup.Good luck though man. I just want the game to start. I've thought hard about this for 3 days now, I'm tired of it. I'm in on Vjax tonight, good, bad, or ugly.I a

VJax has been on the end of my bench all season long just waiting to suit up for these nice matchups. I'm going to run with him over Marshall, Chad and Obomanu to go along with White.

I think this is the week to start VJax if you have the room in your lineup. It was always risky to start him until he got in one full game. While we all expected that to be the Indy game it's taken a few weeks longer than expected. Watching the game he looked good, ran hard and caught all of his targets. Now that he is got that game under his belt I expect his numbers to improve. I have decent options I am sitting for VJax, need to sit one of Blount or Fitz.

OP here, after thinking more about this, I see two more reasons that favor starting him:

1. Chargers have to run the table to have a chance for the playoffs. With the receiving corps depleted by the injuries of Gates and Floyd, now is the time for VJax to step up.

2. As someone else mentioned earlier, VJax is in his contract year, so he has to put up SOMETHING this year to help his argument for a new deal.

Leaning towards putting VJax in over Nicks or Bradshaw against a tough Philly D. I just hate these damn thursday night games.

Again, Nicks is a top 5 play, same as all year long.

Why do people keep forgetting this. Nicks > Jackson Even at Jackson's best his numbers won't be as good as Nicks.
Um, last year down? Jackson at his best, in that offense, is a top 5 guy as well. And you could argue he has a higher ceiling over the course of a full season (assuming both at their "best numbers") at this stage of their careers. Now, for this week and this year? I'd go Nicks without question... but both at the best? We saw some pretty impressive numbers with VJax last year.

I thought I saw something from Kevin Acee earlier today that Mal Floyd was playing tonight ... I don't have a link yet but

No way you start Vjax over Nicks! I'll start Vjax over one of Austin or M. Williams TB but would never consider benching Nicks.

Tonight VJax is gonna make a lot of money. Well, technically, he'll make it this offseason but he's gonna put some big plays on tape tonight.

The 49ers front 7 is solid against the run but the secondary is susceptible. The Packers rolled out play-action and deep passes after halftime two weeks ago. Last week Matt Hasselbeck was brutal and he still threw for 285 and 2 TD's. I'm guessing Norv Turner lets the passing game loose tonight at home.

Whoa whoa whoa! Any given Thursday!I'm not sitting Nicks for VJax. Not a chance. I am sitting Austin though.
I'm as nervous as you about this choice as I need to pick two of Vjax, Austin and M. Williams TB but I'm thinking it may very well be Austin on my bench as well come game time. Vjax has the stars aligning just right this week... SD's injuries & SF's strong run D is too good to pass up. Gotta go with the gut on this one!

Someone in the Assistant Coach's forum said that Floyd did not take part in the walkthrough today. Unconfirmed.

I meant Jackson's best season vs. Nicks best season. Nicks is probably a better WR right now. Of course any week it's hard to say who would end up on top.

I was all set to play Britt as my WR3 instead of VJax, but now I'm having second thoughts. My opponent has Rivers. It would kill me if VJax went off tonight on my bench. Damn, this is what makes ff fun I guess.

I feel like I'm going 'all-in' tonight. Playing Rivers and VJax along with Kaeding. I am considering picking up Randy McMichael and playing him at tight end, but haven't made the move yet.

I expect the Chargers to throw more tonight, as the 9er run defense is strong. I actually hope the 9ers can score some points early, so the Chargers have to score to win. If they get in the situation of must score - they will likely lean on Rivers. I expect VJax to step up tonight. I think 5 catches is a floor for him tonight...hopefully one of them is a long bomb. My projection is 6/100/1

Have him 3 different leagues in 3 different semis.

Starting Fitz/DJax/Mason over him in one league (PPR)

Starting him over Floyd, SimsWalker, Lance Moore, Knox, and worse in the other 2 (both non-PPR)

Feel pretty comfortable with this. Too much risk to start him over dependable guys. Expect either 5/90/1 or a goose egg with no grey area.

Ugh...this is tough. If it helps anyone at this point I am considering starting him as my WR2 over Holmes and Britt in one league and starting him as my flex over Mendenhall in another. I am really struggling with the Britt decision though as I live in Houston and know first hand how pathetic our secondary is.

Edit: Just benched him for Britt, since the site has him as a top 10 WR this week. I hope they are right. Roto and ESPN also have Britt higher than VJ on their lists as well (I believe someone else in this thread had to decide between these two).

I'm starting him over the guys I mentioned and after reading this thread, there are a lot of guys benching some pretty good players to play VJAX tonight.

I really hope he comes through for all of us that are playing him tonight. I'm not saying 200 and 2 or something crazy, but something to make you feel like you're off to a decent start. You're not going to win the week tonight, but something to make you feel that you haven't lost it either. Give me 80 yards and a TD and I will be a happy man. Give me 2 plays and "We have a report just in, Vincent Jackson's return is questionable, he's taken a bad step, stay tuned," and I may go freaken bonkers.

We're all obviously skeptical of it. I'm one who started him the time he did that just 2 weeks ago or whatever it was. There's no next week's if we lose this week, at least not for 1st place. I hope he comes out motivated and plays a great game, it would really be nice to see.

Good luck to you guys.

I have swapped Vjax in and out of my line up for Boldin about 20 times today in my PPR league, driving me nuts!

With Floyd and Gates out, I'm no longer in doubt. Jackson in for sure instead or Rice and Lloyd. I can see 12-15 targets.

As an owner of Floyd and VJax - this is great news!! Vjax in the starting lineup WITH CONFIDENCE!!! :boxing:

Who's gonna be the guy beyond V Jax tonight? Floyd is out, Gates is out. Is Naanee the next on the pecking order, that's healthy? I guess Washington is the #3?
