What do you think about... CJ round one troy smith round 2 (raiders) (1 Viewer)

im just wondering to see what people think about this, i think personally it would be a great move. they would secure up arguably the best player in the draft with the #1 overall, and then take Troy Smith (small risk) with their second round pick. smith's downfalls throughout his career and the combine relied solely on his height. from what i read he was actually one of the most accurate and complete qb's at the combine including russell, and again the only questionability was on his height. im not a raiders fan, but id much rather see them start the season with calvin johnson, and troy smith either waiting in the folds or starting.

I don't know much about the Raiders, but taking CJ in round 1 and either Drew Stanton or Trent Edwards in round 2 would make more sense than Smith. I think Smith will be a terrible pro QB. I think the Raiders should take a cue from the Chargers a few years ago when they needed a QB and had the chance to take Vick, but took LT instead and then took Drew Brees the beginning of round 2.

Yeah, word is that Troy Smith is a late 1st day pick. He supposedly will have to watch for a year or two before he's ready to take over and run an NFL team.

i just personally dont see excatly what it is that every body beleives smith is going to be so bad, in all honesty i havent even heard one person give him a shot? that is just terribly surprising to me?

I think they should draft Calvin, go O-line 2nd round, and hope for a QB in round 3. Stanton or Kolb may be there, who knows with the NFL these days. Also I think Carr is worth looking at for the Raiders. Bledsoe and Harrington would also be deserving of a look.ETA: I might be a minority, but if Oakland gets even a respectable QB then I think OAK would be a good place for CJ to perform from day one...if Moss is still there. Oakland will be playing from behind alot, and Moss will surely draw more attention from the defense than CJ will...at least until week 6 or so .

Because Kirk Herbstreit won't be there to pump him up in the NFL. This guy was overrated. Funny how all you heard during the year was how great Smith and Quinn were since they played for media darlings. No mention of JR all damn season. Now when hype doesn't matter all of a sudden JR is clearly better than those two. Hmmmm funny how that works huh?
