I think Holmes can definitely do as well as a 34 year old Westbrook or a 34 year old LJ. Maybe even slightly better. How good would any of these guys do at 34? Yet to be seen, but probably not all that great...Think he will produce like LJ or am I wastin my time. Think he could do as well as someone like westbrook?
oh hell way better than that.Think he will produce like LJ or am I wastin my time. Think he could do as well as someone like westbrook?
Young 34? The guy was almost forced into retirement because of injuries, now you expect him to come back two years later at the age of 34 and assume full time duty? I am niot saying its impossible, but i find it highly unlikely. I dont know alot about Smith, and he probably wont amount to a very good RB, but at this point his upside is higher than Holmes.I would be shocked if Priest doesn't get 15+ touches a game. I just don't see the Kolby Smith hype - the guy looked slow in preseason and he couldn't handle the rigours of being an every down back in the Louisville offense. KC isn't a team that is rebuilding in the pitiful AFC West, they have a legit shot at winning it. Kolby Smith has had zero nfl rushes....zero, and he is going to come in and pick-up the complexities of NFL D's in one week - gimme a break. On the other hand with Priest you have a 3 time all-pro who is a very young 34 year old running back in terms of carries and has a tremendous work ethic. I could see him being very productive especially considering the weak run Ds KC plays in the next 5 weeks.
the same Priest Holmes with bum legs and over 200,000 on the odometer? there is a reason he was out of football for the past few seasons, i.e, he's shot..he's going to be half of what Eddie George was in Dallas..that line didn't block for LJ, a guy who has blazing speed, suddenly they're going to make a 34 year scrap heap semi retired player into a 1,000 yard rusher?gimme a break.I would be shocked if Priest doesn't get 15+ touches a game. The only thing is that Herm has said he's in line for some carries. I tend think that after he quickly gets stuffed the ball will be spread around and K. Smith may have a chance to step up.He's the second oldest RB in the entire NFL (a mere two and a half weeks younger than Mike Anderson). He's coming back from a "career-ending" injury, and didn't log a single meaningful snap for two full years. He's running behind a line that no longer includes either Roaf or Shields, for a coach who is no longer known for making untouchable fantasy studs out of his RBs, with a QB not known for keeping defenses honest. In short, I'm wondering if there's *ANYTHING* to like about Priest Holmes this season.
He is a real nice guy. Let someone else have him. He's the second oldest RB in the entire NFL (a mere two and a half weeks younger than Mike Anderson). You got that right!I thought he looked pretty good when he was in there. Better than Cedric freakin' Benson, that's for sure..
That's the thing, he does not have 200,000 on the odometer. He has a very low number of carries for his age. He has over 550 fewer NFL touches than Tomlinson. Anyone saying LT's wheels are coming off? Yes, Priest left the game due to injuries, so there is that knock on him, but he doesn't exactly have the same wear as a Curtis Martin at the same age. Now, he Chief O-line has not looked spectacular, but my guess is that people looking at Holmes are not considering benching their current starting tandem of LT and LenDale White, or something like that. More likely, we're looking at teams who have lost a starter or two to injuries and are wondering if Priest can be a servicable, 70 yards combined a game and an occasional touchdown kind of guy, not the 2000+ yard combined back of his prime. I think Priest has the potential to go 15-55 and throw in a few receptions a game. Nothing great, but would work for some teams desperate for another body at RB.the same Priest Holmes with bum legs and over 200,000 on the odometer? there is a reason he was out of football for the past few seasons, i.e, he's shot..he's going to be half of what Eddie George was in Dallas..that line didn't block for LJ, a guy who has blazing speed, suddenly they're going to make a 34 year scrap heap semi retired player into a 1,000 yard rusher?I would be shocked if Priest doesn't get 15+ touches a game.
