What do you think of this drafting strategy? (1 Viewer)

My draft in my main league is coming up on Sunday. I have drafted for 3 other leagues and have been happy with all my teams. Heading into this draft I am looking to try something a little different. Our lineup consists of 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 RB/WR flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF and 8 BE. League is about 50/50 skilled and amatuer. Won't know my draft position until 30 mins prior to the draft. Say I get the #8 pick. Basing this off of ADP (which i know might be different because of my leagues starting requirements) here is what I am targeting for the top of my draft.

1. RB (Parker, Addai, Westbrook, Alexander)

2. RB (Portis, Benson, James, Brown)

3. RB (Jacobs, Green, Jones)

4. RB (Cadillac)

5. Peterson if he is there if not probably WR (I am guessing I would have a pool of S. Moss, Edwards, Ward, Brown, Burress with the possibility of a top WR slipping)

Obviously WR would be a little weak but I feel you can find plenty of value with those type of players. I never take a QB before around Rd 8 or 9. Running back would obviously be a strength and possibly trade bait later in the season.

Any thoughts?

Follow up with Julius Jones, Fred Taylor, LenDale White, Lamont Jordan, and Leon Washington and you'll be made in the shade. You could always start Legedu Naanee at WR and Vinny Testaverde at QB.

I think it depends on two things 1) if the league has some active traders and 2) if it's a 10 or 12 team league.

If it a 10 team league then I don't think there will be enough scarcity at RB to make this work. Everyone will have 1 or 2 good RBs so they won't be interested in trading a starting WR or QB for one of your RBs

If it's not a active trading league, then it might be difficult to put a deal together.

I've actually had this situation in past years where I've had 4/5 viable starting RBs (late picks panned out) and no one would do a reasonable deal, making for a frustrating season.
