What good could come out of starting Ian Snell tomorrow? (1 Viewer)

In my league, I dont need the wins, i am head by 5 of next guy,

I lead the league in ERA and WHIP 1.19ERA, 2.83ERA

and currently in 5th out of 10 in K's

I mean, he is going up against Santana tomorrow, so I can assume it'll be a low scoring day, on the Bucks side... so prob not a win...

and I gotta hope for what, maybe 5-8k's? and an increase in my WHIP/ERA....

What do you think? Start him anyway, and pick up a few strikes... I don't follow the Mets as hard as other teams, you think he has got a chance for more strike outs... or to give up less than 4 runs?

Thanks for the thoughts

not saying the pirates will light santana up or anything, but there's hope of some run support. the pirates are more effective against lefties.

the mets offense doesn't strike fear in anyone. snell should rack up at least 4 strikeouts b/w delgado and beltran alone. as long as snell can get david wright out, any damage could be very limited.

it's a little early in the season to feel like you don't need any wins.

i've been guilty of overmanaging pitching matchups and it's exhausing. snell's a very good pitcher and i'm assuming you didn't draft him for the wins anyway.

sure, he could get blasted or pitch a great game and still lose, but you gotta start him anyway. leaving one of your better pitchers on the bench when he has a great game is an awful feeling.

Yeah, i left Zack Greinke on the bench for the game against the Yankees... OUCH, nothing like a zero ERA and a few k's.

yeah, I wanted to get some k's out of him... wins is a side product, shoot with the rest of my SP's, I need all the help I can get with k's

In the same boat myself. Here's someone else's opinion..

Marc (Toronto, Canada): Start IAN SNELL tonight agianst the Mets? You have him ranked high, but he has been disappointing. Turn around ahead?SportsNation Christopher Harris: Hi, Marc. I hated to see that one-strikeout performance in his last outing; part of why I've been so high on Snell is his ability to throw up a seven-K game even if he doesn't get you a win. You're right: he just hasn't been good so far, and hasn't made me look very smart for being high on him. But we're still in April, and for me that means you still play the guys you thought highly enough of to draft. So I'd have him in there, even though you're right, it could end in heartbreak. I'd rather take the chance, though, than miss out on a one-hitter.

Great start today!

i mean only a ERA of 6, and a Whip of 1.8... plus the loss... I think i might try to get Arod out of this guy!

Ooh, ooh that Snell

Can't you smell that Snell?

Ooh, ooh that Snell

The smell of death surrounds you.

he's become impossible to own, trade or drop.
That's what I am saying... I mean I need to learn how to take the players on their cold streaks and hot streaks, but at 10$ dropped a player and same for pick up... I don't want to drop this "should-be" stud and regret it later (aka: Easy-E and Votto already in my league :brush: )I got a guy on the DL, that comes off in 2 weeks, for now i think Snell sits the bench, and proves himself to me.
