What have we learned after week 3? (1 Viewer)

What I've learned?

That I wasted my #2 pick on a player that has NO offensive line and a coach who couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag.

BTW if you couldn't figure it out, I was lucky enough to get SJAX with my #2 pick!

Forgot One

I learned that owners shouldn't jump the gun and fire a coach after he went 14-2, just because he lost a playoff game. I guess they were thinking it couldn't get any worse. Evidently they weren't watching when Turner was coaching the Redskins and Raiders. IT CAN GET WORSE!

Could substitute with LJ and it would still make sense.

Pennington has a lot more self control than I have. I would have given the Jets "fans" the 1 finger salute after that TD run.

The Rams really, really, really miss Orlando Pace. Even though Steven Jackson got his groove on a little today, Bulger was a negative in most leagues. This was supposed to be a very nice passing match up for the Rams. Now they stand at 0-3, you have to think that some of the players will start to give less than 100% at this point.
You can group your thoughs in one post you know.

It's not Chad's style, but who knows what he was inwardly thinking.
As a Jets fan I'm well aware that Penny is as classy as they come. I just found myself getting angrier as the game went on knowing that this game would be forgotten in a couple of weeks, from a fan perspective. Not sure what some of the boo birds expect from this guy.

Totally agree. I was in the stands yesterday, and the fans gave him a nice ovation when he came in - probably guiltily, to some degree. Winning cures a lot of the boobirds, but yes, the next bad game they'll be screaming for Clemens.

Marvin's 2-pt conversion chart is wrong (wtf did he go for 2 when they were up 4 after scoring?!?)
Going for two was the obvious choice, it would have been stupid to kick the PAT. When you're up by 4 or 5, two field goals by the other team would cause you to lose. When you're up by six, it's a tie. And if they score a TD there's always a chance they'll miss the PAT.

- Not necessarily learned, but just more confirmed - the SF passing game is horrid. But the SF pass D looks good.
Nate Clements was worth every penny.Dude is a playmaker.

So is Willis.

BY still has it.

Their run D will be their downfall though:

Steven Jackson aside, Edge & FWP gashed them pretty good.

Start your RBs against SF.

Alligator Jackson and Ashley Simpson were a complete waste of money.

Alex Smith is a good QB.

He needs someone to throw to.

Without a vertical threat, Gore will continue to find it tough going.

They've taken about 1 shot down the field each game.

Their run D isn't good enough to play so conservative on O.
And that's how you feel when he's actually ON the field. Wait until he's hurt. :bs: Did you really think Seattle gives him to a division rival that swept them last year for only a 4th if he was worth a damn?

that maybe for once the stud running back theory isn't going to get teams to the playoffs...

in the leagues i'm in - the teams who are winning are winning because of QB and WR explosions... RBs seem to be scoring much less than they did last year... which is good for me, since i drafted mostly receivers (and gates) in the first few rounds of all my drafts...

will it pay off in the end? who knows... it has so far...

go mr. 13th round - lamont jordan!

3. Henry snuck in and cashed on a carry inside the 10 yard line. Shanahan mistakenly pointed to him on the sideline instead of Selvin Young.
What does this mean? I couldn't watch the game.
It means that Young seemed to get the goal line carries. Henry scored from the 10 so Shanny couldn't pull him for the kid thus he got to score a TD rather than watch a TD scored....

Flex no longer belongs to RBs. Times are changing and WRs are more explosive and can win you games. Flex Rbs have progressively been less productive over the last 3 years...for me at least. In any format 10-12+ teamers. Draft accordingly.
Except when your flex WR/RB is Adrian Peterson...

What's the best thing for a QB who just gave a controversial interview that was aired this week? Detroit coming to town. Double nickel plus 1? WOW!!! Can Kevin Curtis be the clear cut #1 WR in Philly that has only been filled by TO for that one season? I doubt it, but it was fun to watch today.
Would seem to be that FBG loves him as the WR1. Have you seen their newest WR rankings? :wall:

I learned the Packers are going to be fun to watch.

I learned Cutler's arm strength has been way over-reported. I mean he wound up and threw his bomb with all his might and Marshall had to stop and wait for it and it only went 50 yards. 38 year old Favre still has more arm.

I learned that the Cowboy game must have been meaningless for the Bears. After all Grossman is awesome except in meaningless games. At least that's what Bears fans assured us last year.

The Patriots Wilfolk will be on dirty player watch even though he ultimately may have helped out the Bills.

Atlanta's recievers are better than Vick made them look.
You couldn't have possibly been watching that play. Cutler was being chased out of the pocket and threw on the run ACROSS his body. Agree that the ball was underthrown but I was amazed that he got it there. Cutler has a cannon - plain and simple.

As a long-time Redskins homer, this pains me no end, but...Joe Gibbs should retire. The Skins had no business losing that game yesterday, and the reasons they lost were1. Poor play-calling2. Poor preparation for a two-minute drill3. Poor personnel decisions4. Poor clock managementAll of those are the head coach's responsibility, at heart. And this is not the first time - I have not seen a well-executed two-minute deal at the end of a game in four years. They still might have lost in overtime, but there is no excuse why they didn't get there.
The Skins are horribly managed on the field by Gibbs. Regardless whether the reason is too many voices on the sideline, befuddlement, lack of knowledge of time/down/distance/personnel, or something else, Gibbs is responsible. 2 early wins disguised confusing personnel decisisons, slow calls to the QB, bad calls, and bad decisions in the first 2 games. The second half of the Giants game exposed all those traits. All these were problems last year as well. Gibbs does not have the ability to correct the problems, and as seen in his press conference yesterday is unwilling to even say they're problems. He's impeding team progress. If they win at least 8 the team will stay behind him. If they get below .500 I do believe locker room unrest will become publicly visible. On the other hand, Jason Campbell is going to be a good NFL QB for a long time. And Clinton Portis is a hell of a back, whether Gibbs is smart enough to recognize that or not.
