What have we learned after week 4 (1 Viewer)

The Eagles coaching staff has no clue how to adjust protection schemes at halftime, nor the interest in trying to do so.

*I am learning Joseph Addia is injury prone and/or lacks the build or fortitude to be an every down back and I will avoid using a top 5 pick on him in the future. (Not sure what his status is this weekend but he's not going to last 16 games. He's been the full time starter for 4 games, one he had to leave early and two other games he had to leave for stints after taking shots.)

*I learned that Peyton Manning is a stat hog. It's one thing to throw for two TD's from the two but to QB sneak from 6 inches out on first down after Addai just got the ball there is thievery.

*I learned that 4 HC's who were OC's are doing a terrible job with their offenses. Linehan who best gameplan is to try and protect Bulger, Childress who refuses to accept AP is ready to be the man and refuses to accept that Tarvaris Jackson is not ready, Cam Cameron who never gave Dante a chance and were if not for an injury to Chatman would still be playing games with Ronnie Brown and no need to explain Norv Turner.

*I learned to be true what I thought, Art Shell and the bed and breakfast OC from the Raiders might have been the worst HC and OC coordinator I've ever seen.

Please, Manning could careless about his rushing stats. He justed wanted to score as quick as possible- the D wasn't ready and Manning was able to outsmart them.

Are you being really sarcastic? I'm hoping so.

No, he's a guy who owns Addai, doesn't own Manning, and lost by less than 6 points this week, I betcha.

No and I don't see what would lead you to say that. Addai is putting up nice numbers and so far proving to be worth the third overall pick I used on him. I'm not bashing his production but I've posted on this message board just last week that Addai scared me because in two of this 3 games he's been knocked out for a stretch of the game and had to be tended to by trainers. Now, this makes it 3 out of 4 games he's missed parts of due to taking hard hits with him missing almost an entire quarter this week and possibly his next game entirely. To me that's a player who represents a huge injury risk and I don't take those kind of players in the top 5. I hope like hell Addai proves me wrong and plays 16 games but I'll be shocked if it happens. Regarding Manning hogging stats. That's my opinion and it's not going to change. For years I've watched him still passing on teams when the Colts had a comfortable lead so this is really nothing new. Yesterday, I thought Addai was the Colts most productive player. I understand his production was a result of the the CB play of the Broncos combined with the Broncos playing to not let Manning beat them so I don't underestimate the effect Manning had on Addais ability to find running room. I don't have an issue with Manning throwing the two TD's to Clark. Both of those came from about the 2 yard line were running can be difficult and that fade pass has long been a Manning to Harrison staple. The QB sneak from the 6 inch line I had an issue with as Addia just ran it down to the that spot, it was first down and Addai was destined to punch it in and should have been rewarded for his hard running. If this was any other team I'd have not brought this up but this is not any other team. This is a team were Manning calls the plays. The only way the Colts are not going to score with first down from the 6 inch line is if they turn it over or penalties knock them backwards. Manning knows this but chose to call his own number.

Nothing is destined in the NFL. If Addai thinks he is entitled to a touchdown because he was doing his damn job, then he has lost his mind. The touchdown isn't for the player, its for the team. The QB sneak worked, end of story.

David Carr is still puke.
David Carr does not belong in the NFL.Interesting that Houston suddenly has an offense now that he's gone, and yesterday Carolina's offense looked a lot like Houston used to. Per Rotoworld after yesterday's game:
Ronde Barber said Sunday that the Bucs "didn't do anything" special to hold Steve Smith to just 32 yards in Week 4."He just wasn't getting his opportunities," Barber said. "They weren't giving him opportunities. I don't know the reasons for that. We had some things in to deal with Steve Smith today and to our benefit, we didn't have to use them." Barber's statements figure to add to Smith's frustration after he spent much of the game visibly upset at David Carr's inability to get him the ball.
Carr has one of the NFL's most dynamic WRs (gee, sorta like Andre Johnson now too, doesn't it) and has no freaking idea how to use this weapon. 41 throws, 9 were to Smith, completing 5, all short ones, for 32 yards. Pathetic. Carr had 23 yards passing at halftime yesterday, and 155 yards on 41 attempts overall for a 3.8 YPA. Get his ### off the field, Carolina, if you want to have any chance of winning with your offense!
I remember looking at the stats during that game as I was facing Peens in the Hyper Active League and he had SSmith going. I think at the half all of Carr's completions were 5 yards or less. He averaged 8.1 yards per completion on the day. That was his bread and butter in Houston, the dump pass because he was always being pressured. I just assumed it was poor line play. Looks like the guy can't throw the deep ball. I just went through his completions. Exactly 4 were for 10 yards or more. All the rest were under 10 yards. That's pathetic....Steve Smith is the best WR in the game and Jarrett is like 6' 5" and he can't chuck it down field and let them go up and get it?
Smith only got open down field once and dropped the ball. They threw to him deep at least 3 times.

After watching 4 weeks of football, I can tell you that numerous players come off the field and miss a few plays to get treated by trainers. The thing is, you probably don't notice it because you don't own them. Plus, the Colts are going to be extra cautious with Addai, and if they have a lead and he comes out for ANY reason, they simply won't put him back in unnecessarily. While that may be frustrating, it also means he's unlikely to be seriously injured. Dungy said Addai could have gone back in if it was needed.

Manning wants to win. Period. It's not about getting stats for himself, it's about putting W's in the win column. If that offends you then maybe football isn't the sport for you. Personally, I admire when players do anything they can (within the rules) to win.BTW, Manning doesn't "call" the plays - Tom Moore actually sends in 2 options, and Manning chooses between them, or can audible if needed.

I dont own SS nor am I apologizing for his drop but Carr throws a very difficult deep ball to catch. He has hardly any drop on it. It's always been his problem, with that funky delivery and arm strength every pass is very low and straight.
