What if there's no NFL....thus no FFL? (1 Viewer)

If this is a Honda, let me know and I'll delete it immediately.  I looked and I didn't know what to search on to be more accurate.

Just planning ahead.  I've run a league for 25-26 years now.  I want a backup plan if the NFL season is cancelled.  And, I understand....the odds of that aren't very high.  I'm just trying to be proactive and plan out what we "could" do.

Things like:

  • Hold the draft, then make the teams on Madden and play out the season that way?  How hard is that?  I'm an old guy that doesn't game.
  • Does "WhatIfSports" still exist and are there mock leagues that play themselves online?
  • You think ESPN or CBS Sportsline would ever mock up a season for FFL purposes?
  • Other thoughts?
 
weighted lottery, but pens came away like effin bandits, that’s the malkin crosby haul.   this is very bizarre indeed, lucky it’s all magic sports.

just think of some real trades; canes traded for sami vatanen, who might never play a game for them as a UFA.  so many 1s dealt for nothing.  hoops too.

 
Don't care. Haven't played FF for 15 years. Haven't watched the NFL when any regularity for 12-13 years.  I could maybe name 3 QBs and likely 1 RB in the league right now.

 
if there is no league, there likely isn't college fball either.

So on what tape/gameplay will their be a draft? - There won't be so you skip the rookie draft......

The world will be in such a sorry state if this is what really happens that survival will be more important than fantasyfootball I am afraid. 

 
Honestly? If there's no NFL/FF this year, I may never go back to FF. I suspect there are quite a few in the same position. 

 
What would you guys do for a head to head fantasy hockey league that didn’t finish?   I was originally just going to cancel it and refund being only like 3 people paid. 
 

The top team who was way better than everyone said you don’t really win if you don’t win the playoffs.  
 

2/3rd place teams wanted to payout for their regular season spots. Shocking lol 
 

no one else really cares one way or another.

Agreed.  I am not drafting until the season is officially on, our draft in normally two weeks before anyways.  No season, no draft this year was my thought.

We are definitely drafting. 

 
Maybe dont have a rookie draft this year until you know for sure there will be football.

If not football then the 2020 and 2021 rookies will all begin the draft before the 2021 season.  

Who knows how the actual leagues will do it, but this makes sense for fantasy

I don’t like this at all. Draft picks for this year and nex have many times been traded away and for, based on what players will be leaving college.

What wouldn’t you just draft and then those players are in your roster...next years draft is next years draft

As someone mentioned, do we want the same draft order for two years in a row?  If I got pick 11 and want to rebuild I will have a tough time because now my 2021 pick will also be pick 11.  

There is downside to EVERY idea.  There is not even a possibility of a good all around approach if there is no 2020 season

LOL.  I've been in this league with high school friends for 25 years.  Isn't trying to come up with something fun for us "valuing my friends"?  Or maybe you missed that part all the way up on your high horse?

 
Probably should change the thread title to something like "What if there's no NFL....thus no FFL? Post ideas so we can shoot the all down without really even considering them."

 
I don't know why, but I'm resurrecting this thread to post what I landed on.

12 team league.
Each team drafts 2 QB's, 4 RB's, 5 WR, 1 TE, 1 Team Kicker, 1 Defense.  

You can take any player from the last 11 seasons.  You'll see why in a minute.  Your whole roster starts each week.

On Sunday morning, the commish rolls 2 dice so the options are 2 through 12.  That first roll represents the year.  Yr 2 = 2009, Yr 3 = 2010, Yr 12 = 2019.

The commish then rolls the 2 dice again.  Options will be 2 through 12.  That number represents the week of the season.  Wk 2 = Wk 2, Wk 12 = Wk 12.

Whatever your players did on that week comprise your score and your head to head matchup.  Trades and FA pickups allowed.
