What is Brees worth? (1 Viewer)

Obviously a hypothetical, but lets assume contract talks break down and the Saints look to trade Brees. What would a team like Cleveland/Washington be willing to give up for Drew?

I understand this won't happen, but the fact that Palmer was a game away from going for 2 1sts, I can't imagine what Brees would fetch.

Has an elite QB at the top of his game ever been traded? I can't think of one.

The Broncos got two firsts, a third and Kyle Orton for Cutler. I have to believe Brees would be worth at least 4 first-rounders and a couple of throw-ins.

Wow....this just isn't even a remote possibility so why bother.
Because it's February, this is a football website, and an elite QB has never been available. While extremely unlikely, it's not impossible that Brees/NO can't reach an agreement, at which point the previous examples of Cutler/Palmer make it seem that Brees would require a Hershel Walker type of trade.

Jay Cutler was the closest I can remember?

The Raiders VASTLY overpaid for Palmer. So, I don't think you can look at that and say Brees is twice as good so he would net four First round picks. Comparatively, that's his value relative to Palmer IMHO. But, no team would give up that much for any player.I would guess you could maybe get two firsts and a second. But only a team that is already built to win and doesn't need to draft, aside from QB, could afford to make such a trade.

Fran Tarkington was trade to the NYG at the height of his career in 1968 or 69 I think. Not sure what the Vikes got.
