i was offered Chester Taylor, Maroney, and David patten for Colston in a 12 team TD heavy dynasty. Chester would have cuffed ADP for me. i turned it down
Hmm. I might have taken that offer.
No way, thats nothing but roster fodder. Colston will be a top 5-8 WR during the 2nd half of the season. I cant imagine starting any of those other guys if your team is going to make a championship run.
1. Nobody knows when he's coming back.2. Nobody knows how he'll play when he comes back. You want high end players for pure SPECULATION? Give me a break. The most I'd offer for Colston would be a current no.3 wide receiver who has upside (Ocho, Holmes, Edwards). But even for me to consider that I'd have to have pretty solid depth because it's likely that no.3 I give up was probably a bye week guy for me. You want me to give up a solid bye week guy for a player that might not return for another 4-5 weeks? I'm not sure where that gets me...
Nobody knows when he is coming back? I do, 2-4 weeks.I also know when he comes back, he will play like Marques Colston, a top 5-8 WR. Guys like that win you championships, not part time players like Maroney, Chester Taylor, or Henderson.
Your fantasies are far from facts. Please tell me why you think a projected top 10 WR who may miss half of the fantasy regular season is worth anything more than a 20-30 WR? You guys want a top 10 WR for an injured Colston because you just "know" he's going to come back and be better than ever? Ha, okay. I also love the "I'll just keep him, he's only going to miss 2-4 more weeks... then I can make a championship run." Last I checked to make a championship run you need to make the playoffs... losing your highest drafted receiver for half the season doesn't make making the playoffs any easier. If I owned Colston I'd be dumping him for anything that helps me win NOW... and be thankful there is an owner that is willing to take on the risk of him coming back strong. The Colston owner is my league has put him out there and nobody is biting because every one wants to win now. Even the stacked teams in our league that could "afford" to let Colston sit on their bench would prefer to keep their HEALTHY depth for bye weeks and in case of future injuries.

I would rather have Colston for 8 weeks, than Berrian for 12. You obviously disagree, each to their own i guess.

While you make good points, it all depends on your team, your depth, what type of league, what kind of points you are putting up, what your record is, etc.

Darko, for someone who purports to argue with facts, you're really just engaging in pessimistic speculation.

Chew on this fact: the given time frame is 4-6 weeks. If he played week 6, he would be exactly two days shy of five weeks from the date of his surgery. Five weeks. You can try to muddy his value with your purely speculative, factually deficient nonsense, but as I showed upthread, there are plenty of examples of players coming back from the same injury within this time frame.

Just moved Eli for him. I have Rodgers and the former Colston owner was rolling with Bulger and Jason Campbell. I think the trade worked out well for both of us.

Holding onto him. He's too good to trade and you should still have 1/2 a season with him. No injury is positive but there are lesser evils. At least it wasn't a high ankle sprain or a hamstring. I'm not saying a hand is injury is a good thing but I'd be more worried and panicky if it was a leg injury.

If I go 50/50 or 60/40 in wins/losses I'll be in good shape. So far I'm 1/1 with him out.

I tried packaging him with guys like Felix Jones for a High end WR2 but I didn't like my offers. Hopefully, you Colston owners drafed enough WR depth (Driver, Cotchery... types) to give you something until the big guy comes back.

Or Brandon Marshall. :wall: If only Santonio weren't sucking, I wouldn't be sweating Colston at all.

Colston owner in my league (who also lost Brady!!), is 2-1 & is holding tight. Turner & Forte have been carrying him. He also owns AJ. He has no need to panic & unload Colston, unfortunately for me....

I offered Welker and a draft pick next season for Colston right after the injury was announced (dynasty). Got turned down. I guess I was expecting it.

everyone trading him is not getting fair value, if you are winning you keep him, if u are lsing u are forced to trade him, however, the guys that can keep him will a huge boost to lineup when he returns.

im not even thinking of it. if u can be .500 team when he returns you are going to make a run.

im lucky, at 3-0 i dont have to think about it

as another week goes by, what are the offers for Colston now?
At this point, as a Colston owner, I am holding. I never really intended to sell as I am fortunate to have good depth at WR and currently have most points scored, so it's a luxury to be able to wait. The closest I came was a large package deal for Rivers & Owens, but those are basically the quality of players I would have wanted in return for a Colston. No way was I doing to sell him for $0.40 on the $1.

i definitely always depends on your squad and record. i feel you never get good value for injured players.

i was able to get to 4-0, never had any intent on moving him but have boldin as well and now i may have to if quan misses any significant time.

I agree. I'm 4-0 and have Brees as my QB. So I am thinking of offering up Warner and Crayton for Ortin and Colston (my plan would be to team him up with Marshall and Holmes/Coles-we start 3). The feedback that everyone has posted has been helpful on gauging Colston's value. Seeing the quality players that people would want for him, I think I would get a good deal (if Colston comes back big)the other guy has Anderson as his other QB. (He's 1-3)

Definitely agree. I had Fitz and Marshall so I made a trade for him - for my Roddy White. I was 2-0 at the time and thought I could get to the playoffs without White and in turn would be that much better when Colston returned.

10 team, redraft PPR. Start 1QB/2RB/3WR/1TE/1K/1DST, 6 bench spots.

I traded for Colston right after his injury was announced. The seller also had Burleson go out, so he was looking at WW for starting WRs going forward. The trade was Colston and Fitzgerald for Cotchery, Lee Evans, Eddie Royal, and Felix Jones. Basically a 4-2 trade.

I made that trade because I also had TO, Marshall, and Holt. I traded away the depth of Cotch, Evans, Royal for the upgrade now of Fitzgerald and the future of Colston. Only Holt was on my bench until Colston returns, so I took on a LOT of injury risk.

As of now, it seems to be paying off. I havent lost a week since and my team has stayed healthy. And since Colston seems to be coming back soon, I flipped Fitzgerald for Barber in a multi-player trade.

If/When healthy, I'll be able to put out a lineup of Cutler, Gore, Barber, Marshall, TO, and Colston. I like my chances with that group. Praying for health!

Been holding Colston all the way. This week I get Engram back and next week I'll probably get Colston back.

My WR's will then consist of Marshall, Colston, ROY and Engram going into the stretch run. :lmao: (Patience is a virtue)

Scarey. I've just been offered Edwards (and Galloway) for Colston. Not sure....
I offered Randy Moss today.
I just traded Favre to get Colston today.

Looks like Colston's value is skyrocketing and Edwards is plummeting.I counter'ed the above offer with Berrian for Edwards....not holding my breath.

You may need to be more patient. There is no gaurantee that Colston comes back next week.

The Colston owner in my league panicked big time and dropped him. I pulled the car over as fast as I could to get him, as I have Brees, plue the depth of Marshall, Wayne, Cotchery, Holmes, and Lance Moore.

Thank goodness for smart phones. since then, I have had offers for him, but I am holding him to roll out of the bye weeks with Wayne, Marshall, and Colston as my starters for the stretch run. I am shopping Cotchery for Turner, Jacobs, or Forte right now.

I may be getting an offer of either Jackson or Addai for Colston, through our league grapevine.

I have the ability to stand pat, so to me, I may have him overvalued.

10 point receiving touchdown league?

I've held pat. I also have Marshall,Boldin,S. Moss and DeShaun Jackson, so depth was a non-factor for me. When he comes back I may be forced to make a trade because I can only start 3 WRs. Actually, I can start 4 if I chose but then I would have to bench 2 of Bush,Lynch,LBJ and SJax every week.

That's "probably" why I used the word "probably" in my original post :lmao:

No way you get Colston back next week... He's not even practicing. For all we know he may not even have his cast off yet. Pure speculation on my part, but since the offense continues to put up big numbers without him, I don't see New Orleans trying to rush him back. I wouldn't expect him back until the week after their bye (Week 10).

The original timetable for his injury was 4-6 weeks after week 1. Unless he had a setback, i cant see him not being back by week 8.

But why the radio silence? There hasn't been one single blurb/snippet about his progress. We've heard about Shockey's progress. In this case, I think no news is bad news.

Its possible that no news is bad news, but it also possible that no news means there is no news that is any different than the original news. After reading this, then rereading it, the word "news" has lost all meaninig.

:goodposting:Huh? He has his thumb in a cast that is scheduled to be removed four weeks from surgery. It is normally healing and the cast will be removed on schedule barring him getting in a car accident. What sort of update could there be while his thumb is in a cast? It's not like he's doing knee re-hab and running in a pool here. When his cast is off and he is testing the thumb out, then you can speculate all you want about it's doing well, it's doing bad, whatever you want. But right now there really isn't much to say one way or the other.

You must be in a league with idiots with that roster. Why bother?

Why be such a tool, it is certainly possible to have that team in a 10 person league.1. SJax2. Lynch3. Colston4. Boldin5. Marshall6. Bush7. MossJohnosn and Jackson could have went anywhere from round 8-20.While i didnt see Lynch fall to round 2 in any of my leagues, i did see every other one of those players fall to that round in at least one draft.

Here's the difference...he has a cast on. What are you going to report...it itched him today three times and he had to use a coat hanger to scratch it. Injuries that are hamstring or pulls can be reported on because he can measure their ability to do what they did before. Run, cut, move, limp, fall...etc, etc.
