What is Culpepper's Value in Keeper Leagues? (1 Viewer)

If your team is in trouble and you are focused on next season in a keeper league, do you acquire C-Pepp? If you're dealing with a salary cap keeper league, what price for next season is a good deal (e.g., $ for a top 5 QB, top 10 QB, top 15 QB)?

In a salary cap keeper league, I would only want to keep C-pep at bargain basement prices. I really thought he was a buy low after a solid performance to open the season against the Stillers (until the 4th quarter), but the rest of this year has proven that at least mentally, the 2005 C-pep is the real C-pep, not the 04 and previous C-pep. He could be a huge bargain next year if the running ability comes back, but he is only an average passer, and dangerous in leagues in that penalize turnovers heavily.

Bargain basement is hard to judge. As an example, in my league, he is $9 with a cap of $120. Manning is $22, Brady is $15, Hasslebeck is $13.5, but I have Delhomme at 5.5 and Roethlisberger at $4.5 and the minimum QB salary is $4. Is $9 a deal? Seems like you'd have to ensure that you had a very viable backup. If you are dismantling your team for a run for next season, do you really want to take on a high-risk, high-reward player or just save the cap space to bid on someone for next season?

I think that we've seen the last of Culpepper as an effective quarterback. Everyone wants to use his injury as an excuse, but he was horrible last season prior to the injury.

This appears to be in the wrong forum, but with solid reliable guys going for a few bucks more, Culpepper doesn't offer the upside to warrant a $9 salary. He could reaslistically not out perform Delhomme next season. Sure, there is a statistical chance he goes nuts and repeats 2004. What are you going to bet he does? I wouldn't bet $3.5 of my $120 cap on it.
