Honestly, after reviewing the list I think there's an element of truth to my joke - he's more famous for being good looking than he is most any of those options.  I absolutely LOVE 'O Brother but it's kind of a cult classic or sorts.  Gun to head I guess I'd say ER but I still think if you had an option "People's Magazine Sexiest Man" it would win the poll.

I think you are right on here, but this is why I would go with Danny Ocean.  It is the character that I think resembles what he sells his persona to be.  Not a criminal mastermind, but suave, debonnaire, and just generally cooler than the other side of the pillow.

But his best performances for me are a toss up between The Descendants and Up in the Air. Love both movies.

i think he's a reasonably versatile actor. he can bounce between hammy roles and more nuanced lead performances with ease. he's also a very capable supporting actor that can enliven even ostensiblly cameo roles.

i think his performance in "out of sight" is what showed he can do in capable hands even if it wasn't the role or blockbuster that, say, "Perfect Storm" was. i think underrated movie might be "michael clayton".
