What is Lamont Jordan's keeper value (1 Viewer)

He was dropped in one of my leagues. Last year he put up 1600 yards and 11 TDs...he clearly has the talent to be a top 10 back. It sounds like the recovery for an injury like he has is 8-12 weeks which obviously has him out the rest of this year but healthy by Januaryandfully healthy when camp begins next spring

I can't see any way Shell is back and certainly the OC will be gone in 2007.

Is he someone that should be on a roster in a 12 team 4 player keeper league?

Where do you rank him amoung RBs for the next 3 years.

Way to hard to tell at this point what his value will be over the next number of seasons.

I would say that if you have a roster spot you can waste on picking him up, it would be worth the risk. Of course that depends on when you have to declare your keepers.

My predictions: Moss is gone. Porter stays for another season. Shell stays. OC is gone. The O-Line remains the biggest question mark for next year.... As well as the QB position...

Hard to say if Brooks will be there, or if the Raiders draft a QB in the first round, or if they bring in another vetern QB.... or if they bank on Walters....

To many unknowns to say if he is a keeper at this point.

Porter gets traded to TB for a conditional 2008 day2 pick (my prediction).Other than that though... what else do you think about the QB situation? Why would they go back to Brooks if they still had faith in Walters as their future QB? Is it to see if he's worth keeping in the offseason?

Jordan is a solid RB. He is in a terrible situation though, and because of that, I'd stay far, far away until Shell leaves, which likely will be at the end of next season.

I have him stashed away in my keeper league as well. I can only keep 5 RB's, so I am very iffy on him.

He actually looked pretty decent from time to time, but with such an inconsistent offense, the run game rarely gets on track, so you can't really get a good feel for how he was performing.

Additionally, he got so much of his value off dump off passes last year, and with Shell that seemed to be eliminated. Turner really gave LaMont a boost in his time with the team.

Really you can't trade the guy, so I think the only hope is to hold on to him for a while and hope things improve next season.

Any opinions this week? With Walsh out as OC, could Shell be close behind? Perhaps they get a real coaching staff in there next year and the Brooks/Jordan?Moss/Porter wet dream actually happens.

I've said it in another Jordan thread and I'll say it here - I traded for him in a dynasty league probably around week 5 or 6 with the anticipation that at some point, somewhere down the line, a coaching staff will be brought in that knows how to utilize Jordan's skills. For whatever reason, Shell doesn't like dump off passes to RBs (perhaps because Lamont always had to stay in to block on account of the miserable O-line) but in a PPR, this guy was gold the year prior. I don't expect him to ever get 70+ receptions again, but if a competent coaching staff comes in and realizes that this guy is a solid receiver, and makes the necessary changes/improvements on the offensive line, I think he could get himself back to decent RB2-great RB3 status.

Unless Oakland can land Jeff Fisher... I find it HIGHLY unlikely that Shell gets fired after just one season.

Plummer will be throwing the ball for the raiders next year and will utilize Jordan extensively since he can't get it downfield to Moss or Porter.

The Raiders need to address the offensive, and I mean it's really offensive, line play before thinking about a QB. Gallery is quite possibly the worst OL pick in the history of the NFL draft. At least Mandarich had some injuries as an excuse. Gallery's been healthy up until the past few weeks.

It really depends on how strong your team is in a 12 team keep 4 league.

Some teams in your league probably have a really solid 4 and Jordan couldn't make the grade.

With some of your bottom teams, I'm sure that 4th player is someone like a top TE (in a non starting required TE league)......maybe a middle of the road QB or possibly someone like a Chris Chambers or like your Lamont Jordan.

He'll be back next year, I'd consider him a middle RB2 type back, somewhere mid 3rd round type of a pick. So unless you have a very solid team, I'd probably gamble and keep him as like my 4th player.

I have Jordan in a 3-man keeper.

I also have LT and LJ.

Jordan may be my 3rd keeper...I'm not sure yet. Would love a QB or WR to keep, but I don't think my roster has a player at those positions that keeper-worthy.

I'll probably try to trade him for a WR in the off season.

1) He plays for Oakland.

2) He plays behind a horrible O-Line.

3) He plays for Art Shell.

4) He plays for an offensive coordinator than nearly ruined A-Train's career.

5) HE PLAYS FOR OAKLAND!

Drop him like a bad habit, pick up a hot rookie next year (A Peterson or M Lynch, depending on what teams they end up on).

we're talking dynasty/keeper though. cant give up on a guy because his current situation sucks. he played for a terrible oakland team last year and was very productive. he doesnt have a ton of carries under his belt, art shell wont be there more than two years and the OC is already gone. jordans got the talent to be a consistent top 15 back, hopefully the oakland situations gets better quickly. i'm looking at jordan as my sixth keeper, FWIW

Jordan still looked like 2005 Jordan at times this year - a rugged bruising RB . Now, 2005 Jordan isn't as good as you think (low YPC, numbers inflated by lots of dumpoffs) - but Jordan is still good enough to be an RB2.

Oakland had the worst offense in the league by far and some of the worst offensive line play the league has ever seen - you can't hold that against Jordan. Not only was the offense hapless, but it meant that Oakland was almost never even or ahead when Jordan was toting the rock - which means death for an RBs fantasy value, unless that RB happens to play in a Mike Martz offense.

The Raiders are still in the cheap base salary period of Jordan's contract. They would be nuts to cut him, and I doubt they would get much for him in the trade market.

At worst, he should be the larger part of an RBBC, but don't be surprised if he resumes his old role. The offense can simply not get any worse - it would defy the laws of physics (unless capacity for suckitude is infinite?). The defense is in great shape, which is a good foundation for an RBs value.

Buy low.

I agree on buy low if you have the space. A solid starting RB in our auction league goes for $40 - I can sign Lamont for 50% of that - worth a shot to see how things shake out next year. He still has talent, he's still young and he will be 100% healthy next season.

I would be thrilled to have a healthy Jordan as my #3 RB with a rebuilt OL, new QB, new coach - all are possiblities for 2007. Their defense is not bad - they should concentrate on the O.

I would rank him around #30 right now for 2007 with a chance to climb up significantly over the offseason if the above happens.

There are a lot of factors working against Jordan.

- the injury, not a huge factor by itself but it allowed Fargas to throw his hat in the ring and possibly earn carries.

- horrific line

- need a qb

- need a new OC/HC or both. Their offense was a complete joke this year and they need a major overhaul.

- Jordan isn't that good a RB to begin with

More questions than answers at this point. A wait and see situation at best.
