What is the best recliner? (1 Viewer)

The "What is the best mattress" thread was so helpful in guiding my new mattress purchase, I figured I'd start this. The expensive recliner I bought 2 years ago from a furniture store is a total piece of crap. Lifetime warranty but it keeps falling apart and I'm done with it. Looking to buy a good one.

What are the brands that provide quality? La-Z-Boy? Barcalounger? These are the only two I'm really familiar with. What features are worth the up charge? Do massaging chairs actually do anything or is it an expensive gimmick?

Further, I haven't found any sites like sleeplikethedead.com that give usable reviews and information. Anyone here know of such a resource?

Most importantly, personal testimonials or warnings are always most helpful. Maybe we even have someone here that has worked in the business and can provide insider info.

Any tips, complaints, recommendations, etc are appreciated. TIA.

We bought a set 5 years ago that's still going strong -- leather power reclining sofa and recliner. I was nervous about the motors going bad, but so far so good. The brand is Flexsteel and they're built like tanks.

I have four home theatre recliners with motorized recline.  They're like 10 years old and still fantastic.  Berkline is the brand.

I was in the market for a recliner as well but I didn't want a two piece like offdee linked and I don't want a motorized version.

All I've been told is to wait until around memorial day to buy furniture because supposedly stores put them on sale then because everyone people have a day off to shop.

I bought a Barcalounger about 10 years ago.   No ragrets.     I'm sure there's nicer ones out there than what I got but it's been solid.

Thanks for the info guys. Anyone have a massaging recliner? I have to admit, I'm tempted but don't want to spend a couple hundred extra dollars for a chair that vibrates. If it actually does something for lower back pain (for example) then I'm all in.

Do they make them that warm up like your car seat? I've found on long trips the low heat on my car seat helps tons.

It seems like all the massaging chairs I've looked at also have heat. Not really an enticement for me as I live if Florida. A refrigerated seat would be more useful.
