What is the most carries in history for a rookie RB? (1 Viewer)

PACKER 7

Anyone know what the record is?

Personally, I think the Vikes better slow this down a little. Considering he also is still returning kicks as well.

Interesting that you are posting this in the week leading up to the Vikings - Packers game. Are you scared of him going off against the Packers this week?

No idea what the record is, but Lynch is on pace to get 354 carries this year.
I found it. 390 by Dickerson in 1983. I guess 316 isn't all that bad, but when you count the kick returns he'd be closer to 390 touches I bet.Just don't want to see potentially one of the greatest RBs of all-time get cut down due to early overload. I am a non-owner btw.

 Not really worried though. I think the Packers have enough sense to put 8 in the box and dare one of the worst passing offenses in the game try to beat them.

Eric Dickerson also had 52 receptions that year. Edgerrin James had 369 attempts and 62 receptions his rookie year, Curtis Martin - 368 and 30, and even LaDainian Tomlinson had 339 carries and 59 receptions. I don't think any of these guys were hindered by the load they carried their rookie year and I highly doubt ADP will be either. You'll just have to get used to him running all over the Pack, unless they find a way to stop him(more likely Childress will find a way though).

True, but SD was ranked No. 7 against the run going into Sunday and they stacked the line all day without much success. If that line continues to block as they have been and Childress isn't dumb enough to hinder ADP, I think it's inevitable that he breaks at least a couple long ones. Now, with how bad that pass defense for the Vikings has been, I don't think it makes much difference in the game. IMO

Good info above about other rookie RBs. I guess Childress is doing a good job so far limiting his load. Smart man. You have to remember that C. Taylor is pretty dang good too. So Peterson, Taylor it's going to be a tough day for the GB linebackers period.Peterson only has 12 recs also. So we're looking at probably 400 touches total including Kicks. So I guess this is about par for someone of his talent. Thanks again.

This past week, they had Andrae Allison returning kicks since ADP was starting. I suspect we'll only see him returning kicks at important moments of the game(last minute before halftime or trailing near the end of game). So I think that even with an increased workload(I assume he won't get 30 a game, but 20 would be more likely), that 400 total touches would be the ceiling for him this year. More like 370.As for the GB linebackers this week. Their biggest concern is shedding blocks. Containing someone like ADP is hard enough without an offensive line like Minnesota's. They were devastating on Sunday.

thank God ED did not get 400 his rookie year, his career would have been over!
