What is the norm for starting lineups? (1 Viewer)

Right now we start

qb, wr, wr, rb,rb, te/wr k, d

I hate not starting a mandatory TE and hate only starting 6 postion players when you draft 16 players.

At last years pre draft meeting I brought up having a mandatory TE as it makes drafting better..got shot down 2-10...I also wanted to make the flex a RB/TE/WR that got shot down 1-11..but what did get passed was PPR for WR/TE's only and an extra WR.

so next year its

qb,rb,rb,wr,wr,wr,wr/te,d,k

so you can start 4 wrs and it is PPR for all wrs and TEs...this is also a 2 man keeper league.

Just curios what others do? Thanks

both my leagues are qb rb,rb,wr,wr,wr,te,k and def/st with option of 1rb and 4 wr. The 4 wr option is good for those teams that have rb injury problems.

The 3 leagues I'm in...

Keeper League (4): QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, K, D

IDP League: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, WR/RB Flex, K, 4 DB (CB/S), 4 DL (DL/LB)

Fun Board League: QB, RB, WR, WR, TE, WR/RB Flex, K, D

I don't think I've ever played in a league where a TE wasn't a mandatory option.

my league 10 teams 14 man roster ( which I want to change to 18)

start :

1 qb any combination of 5 from the wr/rb position but you have to start at least 1 at each position, 1 TE,1K and 1 Def

Our roster consists of 2 qb,3 rb,4wr,2 te's,2k and 1 def/st

we use 2RB, and either 3WR + 2TE OR 4WR + 1TE....all our guys like it. We also give TEs 2 PPR, so it can definitely encourage the 2TE set if you have a bunch of scrub WRs

i run 3 leagues, 2 dynasty and 1 redraft

both dynasty leagues

1-QB

2-RBs

3- WR/TEs

1-flex(RB,WR,TE)

1-K

redraft

1-QB

2-RB

2-WR

1-flex(RN,WR,TE)

1-TE

1-K

1-DEF

Both of my leagues are going to using 1 QB, 2 RB, 1 flex QB/RB, 4 WR, 2 TE, 1 flex WR/TE. 1 Head coach, 1 kicker. One league uses 2 DL, 2 LB, 2 DB. The other uses 2 DE, 2 DT, 3 LB, 2 CB, 2 S, 1 team kick return unit, 1 punter. PPR .25/.5/1.0.

My league starts an unconventional number of players, but in my opinion, it's way more exciting than the norm:

QB

QB

RB

RB

WR

WR

WR

TE

Flex

K

K

Def

QBs are by far the most important players on the roster, and since we can only have three on the roster at a time, you need to draft smart to win. I love having so many players in the starting lineup...the games are more fun to watch and if one or two players stink it up, you still have plenty more chances for someone to have a great day. Also, we don't go by the normal FF points. Our positions are head-to-head. For example, whoever's has the most passing yards gets 10 points. 10 points for most rushing yards, etc. And bonuses thrown in for 120+ yards, touchdowns passed, things like that. We're in our 5th year and I highly recommend that kind of format.

nukdog - I think you might be able to get the changes you want if you try this sell

Both of the Big$ national FF competitions use this starting lineup:

QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE. Flex (RB/TE/WR), K, DST

If you explain that, and try and get your league to put in some additional monies so that at some point your league "funds" one of your teams or a "league owned team", then it makes sense for the league to follow that format to get people ready - several leagues have already done this all or in part [so if each team put in an extra $100] that would go to the winner or joint team towards an entry.
