What is this Eye Pain? (1 Viewer)

Any EyeGuys here?

Yesterday I noticed my left eye was much more red than usual (pretty strong seasonal allergies, itching/redness is standard). No discomfort at the time, but by later in the night, especially when the drinks from dinner were wearing off, I started getting a consistent dull pain in the eye. I was able to sleep for a couple hours but the pain woke me up at 2am and here I am since.

The pain is worse with my eye closed than open, and when keeping it open, it's watering like all hell, as of I was crying. I've tried flushing it with cold water, and there's some temporary relief, but then it's right back. If I had to pinpoint it, I'd say the pain is above and to the left of the pupil.

Scheduled an appt with my eye doc in a few days but wondering if I can get an amateur diagnosis here.

PS...had an eye exam about 6 weeks ago, no issues.

PPS...I checked my junk on my own, reasonably sure it's not ball cancer.

Sounds similar to when I had a minor infection. I was also very sensitive to light. Got some eye drops from the doctor and it cleared up pretty quickly.

Are you a contact lens wearer?

If so, do you sleep in your lenses?

Is the eye more light sensitive than usual?

Any goop or discharge?

Any pain on eye movement?

Fwiw I would get in to your eye care prof asap. I make certain I see any patient with eye pain the same day regardless of my schedule.

Sounds like Simeotosis Pupilsemia.

Your eye has a small tear in the back and is leaking fluid. Once the eye pressure falls enough it could quickly deflate permanently.

I'd go to the doctor ASAP.

*i made this up.

No glasses, no contacts, no interactions with parasites to my knowledge. The discharge was just water...a lot of it.Good news is that once I was finally able to get to sleep around 5am, I woke up a couple hours later and the pain was much better. There's still some discomfort, but I'd put it at about 10% of what it was earlier. Not watering either. Going to see how it goes for the rest of the day and will make a call from there.

Thanks for the help.

Sounds probable you had a minor scratch or abrasion, or got a mild chemical in it. If you were my patient, I'd tell you to get some preservative free artificial tears and put them in every 15 minutes or so for a day and see how it feels.

I don't know what to believe here because I can't find the antecedent asterisk!
