CB - Mel Blount

Changed the way the position was played. NFL had to change the rules to give receivers a chance against him. Simply the best to ever play his position a la Jerry Rice. I'll take him over D. Sanders without a second thought.

Blount and Woodson would be my starters.

Also, you have three OTs listed and only one guard. Replace Ogden with John Hannah. Likewise, you have 2 MLB and only one outside guy. You can take your pick out of Hendricks\Willie Thoams\Derrick Brooks to replace Ray.

Also, I would replace Tony Gonzalez with Kellen Winslow. I could critique your list more, but I am off to holiday festivites.

just did linemen and LBs in general

i believe list/ranks can be based on the posters age. some greats might not be concider since the poter never watched them play.
That's cool, but don't call it an all-time list. Kind of implies all-time greatest, some of whom played quite awhile ago.

QB: Joe Montana

RB: Walter Payton

FB: Jim Brown (I believe this was technically his position)

WR: Jerry Rice

WR: Don Hutson

TE: Mike Ditka

OT: Anthony Munoz

OT: Forrest Gregg

OG: John Hannah

OG: Jim Parker

C: Jim Otto (tough call over Mel Hein)

DE: Reggie White

DE: Deacon Jones

DT: Joe Greene

DT: Bob Lilly

LB: Lawrence Taylor

LB: Jack Lambert

LB: Jack Ham

CB: Deion Sanders

CB: Night Train Lane

S: Ronnie Lott

S: Larry Wilson

K: Morten Andersen

P: Sammy Baugh (backup QB and DB)

KR: Gale Sayers (backup/COP RB)

PR: Brian Mitchell (but with Deion and Sayers on the team, he would share this duty at best)

I like Just Win Baby's lineup for sure... with the exception of Sanders.

:moneybag: at the OP's selection of Sapp.

Also... not sure about J.Brown, but R.Craig could be a sneaky selection at FB. I believe he played FB in his first couple seasons with the Niners.

Same here. GREAT list. I'd only replace three - CB Sanders (Ken Houston) + TE Ditka (Sharpe) + P Baugh (Guy), and maybe LB Ham (Hendricks)

LT over Jim Brown and Walter Payton??? :goodposting:
It's not that ridiculous. Tomlinson combines Payton's versatility and finesse with Brown's force and nose for the endzone. Feel free to make your own list for us to criticize if you don't like his.

If I was creating a starting lineup, as the title suggests, at WR I might combine Rice with a guy like Largent rather than Moss.

I'm not into fielding 'role' players....Largent is similar to Welker.....Largent was a helluva WR, yeah, I know, I saw him plenty of times vs my Raiders.......but Rice can run underneath stuff along with my TE Mackey.....But in Moss, I'm going to scare the be-jeebers out of any defense....and the guy's production is off the charts.....Arguably, Moss is one of the Top 3 WRs of All-TimeAnd not arguably, Moss is the most physically gifted WR of all-time

I was sort of thinking that as I was posting... Rice is versatile enough to run the underneath stuff as well as go deep. So you're probably right. There are a ton of WR combos that could work. I would also have a really hard time picking a TE. I would maybe have to go with a two TE set and no FB...That's the main reason I haven't posted my own lineup, I'd probably spend too much time trying to make it perfect.

How the hell is John Hannah on only one list? Almost an automatic disqualification for not including him.

I doubt most people would have Bo starting on an all-time team at the one position that he actually did play.

Hannah would probably make my list, but I wouldn't disregard an argument for several other guards being better than he was.

Atta Boy!

I feel the all time list can be argued at every position except at the following:

1 receiver - Jerry Rice

FB - Jim Brown

1 DE - Reggie white

1 CB - **** 'Night Train' Lane

MLB - Jack Lambert

SS - Ronnie Lott

KR - Devin Hester

IMO Lambert can be debated, even though I chose him. There could be arguments for Butkus, Singletary, and a few other HOFers. And I definitely think Hester can be debated; he hasn't gone long enough yet to get the nod over Sayers, for one.I'd add Don Hutson to your list. IMO there is no basis for taking any WR other than Rice and Hutson.Agree on Rice, Brown, White, and Lott.ETA: Not sure how anyone can argue against Lawrence Taylor either.

I see you're point with Hester. I'm not too much of a fan of his but comparing the generations of him and Sayers, the speed of the game is uncomparable. Sayers was a step ahead in his time, and the same for how Hester has does for his time. He's on another level it seems when you see the 4.4 speed of 225 pounders coming at him and he does his thing. So with that I still have to lean towards Hester.
