What kind of league do you play in? (1 Viewer)

Maybe it is just me, but I dont play in any leagues that are not PPR, and I thought it was a widely common thing nowadays, but from what I have gathered from this site, most others, around here anyway, play in mostly NON PPR leagues, and then seeing David Dodds projections he didnt add PPR points to his rankings...so, am I alone in playing in mostly, if not totally in PPR leagues?

And if you dont play in PPR leagues, why, as IMO it is the best way to level the playing field?

I play in RB 0.5PPR and WR/TE 1PPR leagues, for the most part.

I don't like PPR in general, since 1 reception for -1 yards is worth the same as 9 yards in the scoring system. It makes sub-par players into top 15 players.

Unfortunately, without PPR, the gap between the tiers is much too great for any semblance of a fair distribution of talent. Huge dropoffs from the top RBs and WRs without PPR greatly favor the teams who have the luck to be in the position to draft them. In serpentine redraft leagues, I wouldn't really consider non-PPR.

However, in auction leagues, everyone has a chance to get any player they want so non-PPR works out to be exactly as fair as the market dictates.

All PPR leagues. Gave up on non-PPR about 5 years ago.

There does seem to be a lot of non-PPR people here. I've never figured out why that is.

the league i commish switched to Non PPR based on owner consensus for the same reason that everyone else says ... they don't like it that a reception for -2 yards earns a point.

plus, the point of PPR is to give additional value to WRs, since they're less valuable than RBs and QBs, but it seemed to help make RBs even more valuable based on the number of screen passes they typically receive in a game.

this year we're trying point per rush/rec 1st down instead of PPR .. based on last year's stats, it seems the this will help close the gap between WRs and RBs/QBs, which is one reason why people like PPR.

In a few PPR leagues and choose this format over non-PPR, make drafting more interesting. Sure wold like to see more projections with the PPR format.

If you want to level the playing field you can do all sorts of things, but to me it takes the enjoyment out of the game. there is some purity in TD's being worth 6 points, there is some purity with 10 yards equaling a point for everyone (except QB's). getting a point for a catch is akin to getting a point for a handoff...it doesn't add value unless it gets you yards (which you are already accounting for). That being said, if you want to add a point for a TE catch and a 1/2 a point for a WR catch that isn't the end of the world, but giving a point (or less) to a RB for catching a pass flies in the face of all logic as the only reason why you are thinking of PPR is to reduce the value of RB's.BTW, Does it make sense that 4 catches for 10 yards is worth more than 1 catch 40 yards? of course not so why make it so artificial and unlrealistic?NO PPR

we do .25 PPR, gives guys that catch a lot of balls a little extra boost. Still reward yards 10 for 1, both RB and WR, so yards are still the dominate factor.

I just paid for 16 league I run or have some other admistrative function with:

8 PPR

8 non

talk about balance!

there are pros and cons to both, the beauty of scoring systems "are in the eye of the beholder"

different strategies in drafting, trading and the like...a place for both, for sure

 5 leagues, no PPR.

3 leagues:

1 PPR

1 .5 PPR

1 No PPR

I like the .5 PPR the best...TEs get 1 PPR in that system though and makes them pretty valuable.

i do not like ppr . in fact 6 years ago, when i did an extensive net search on every type of ff league and format on the web no ppr was a requirement . zealots was my favorite setup i could find and is still my favorite to this day . i play in several local re-drafts each year also . a couple have adopted a .25 per reception setting which balances out the 4rb/wr setting we have in those leagues . but otherwise ppr = yuk imo .

Non-PPR. I'm not sure what you even mean by levelling the playing field, if anything it widens the gaps at the WR level.
