What newly signed big contract players will you avoid early in draft? (1 Viewer)

Chris Johnson last year is an example of a player who signed a big contract and then was a dud compared to his high draft position. What players in this situation will you avoid using a high draft pick on this year in a redraft league based on your gut feeling that now that Player X is getting paid, they may not play hard enough to justify their draft position?

Marshawn Lynch is my call and it was before the arrest. Standing by that one.

I'm leery of Vincent Jackson too, but looking at his ADP it doesn't seem I'm alone. I have him 25th and he's 23rd on MFL, still doubt he's on any of my teams but I'm surprised my thoughts mirror the consensus here.

I haven't been playing FF long enough to know if this is a legitimate trend or if it's one of those perception things.

Are there stats that show a consistent drop off among players who sign big deals (and aren't injured or on a crappier team)?

It depends on the player. Certian guys who are not true proffesionals will do this.

Chris Johnson was more than a new big contract. It was more about him holding out for most of the preseason. I would be more likely to avoid a holdout as opposed to someone who just got a big payday. The player with the big payday would be more situation and player specific. I was never high on Mike wallace anyway, but if he holds out I would avoid him even more.
