What now for 2017 (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
Ok guys, this week my team took a big hit with the loss of AJG and prosise so i'm looking for 2017 now.

Here is the list of my Def players. I'm looking for some advices of which player keep, cut, add.... .

1,5 tackle - 6 sack - 0,80 assist - 1,5 pdef - 6 inter

Start 3DL - 3LB - 3DB

DL: Brandon Graham, Trey Flowers, Demarcus Lawrence, Jerry hughes, Marcell Dareus, Devin Taylor, Yannick Ngakoue

LB: Alec Ogletree, Kiko Alonso, Deone Bucannon, Malcolm Smith, Myles Jack

DB: Tony Jefferson, Antoine Bethea, Karl Joseph

I think some players like Malcolm smith will be cut next year for exemple.

Players like Vince Williams, Danny trevathan, Corey James are available in my league, maybe one of them deserve a roster spot?

Waiting for your reviews.

You are getting old at DB, and seem deep at DL (depending on starting requirements).  Maybe look to add some youth at DB, guys like Tartt or Cravens whose role is likely to expand.

Sorry edit my first post, 3DL, 3LB, 3DB

Cravens is LB in my league. Tartt ok, what about Byard?

What are your keeper requirements?  How many can you keep? Salary cap? How long can you keep?  To know whether to keep or cut we kind of need to know who will be replacing the cut guy as well.

Here would be my comments:

  • In general you have a lot of nice young upside DL guys but not any true studs.  Some potential is there to develop.
  • LB is very thin.  Ogletree is a stud cornerstone and Jack should become a stud.  The other guys are solid yet unspectacular.  Could use some infusion of talent here.
  • DB's are DB's.  No need to spend a lot of time worrying with this position.  Keep Joseph and use those other roster spots for upside LB/DL's.  You can always find startable DB's in season.

You're right Gally, more precisions.

it's a dynasty league, no salary cap, I can keep as long as I want.

It's a 40 players roster so around 15 def seems a good number for me.

Ok so you think Alonso, Smith, Bucannon, Bethea, Jefferson can be drop. Jefferson was a good fantasy player in many games, no long-terme value for you?

Trevathan is a must pick for you ? I traded it for a rookie 2nd this year and the owner dropped him last week.

DB's are so flaky that I tend not to hold onto them as keepers.  Generally you can find an equivalent point producer every year for virtually no cost.  I would just rather use up that precious keeper slot for high upside DL or LB spots.  I wouldn't automatically dump Jefferson but I would have no issue dropping him for a higher upside play at a more impactful position (be it offensive or defensive side of the ball).

I thin Trevathan is a solid LB'er and probably worth rostering.  I am not sure who I would drop for him (maybe Alonso) or maybe a DB (but you probably still need your three to play this year).  There may be someone on your offensive side that is just taking up space.

Trevathan can replace one of my LB for the ROS. Tough call, Smith was everywhere in this game. You're right maybe Alonso.

With Freeman out for 4 games due to PED's that makes Trevathan an even better pick up for this year.  I definitely drop Alonso for Trevathan now.

What about Vinny curry ? Off season big name and big contract but verry limited snaps.

Barwin is also under contract until 2019.

Scoring system is interesting

Sack points and assists means that OLB in some systems could be golden. Look for stats crews who credit assists heavily.

Also the INT and PD rules make corners quite attractive which further reduces the need to keep many DB. The rookie corner rule about targets means a lot in this league. I would keep Joseph and Bethea though.

DL needs some work. Frank Clark? Carl Nassib?

I'm not a fan of OLB, too much sack dependent.

I will keep Joseph, it's certain, even if I'm a little worried since he play deep, very deep.

Name available on DL are: V.Curry, P.Smith, J.Sheard (just drop), K.Ealy, J.Hargrave,M.Judon, C.Nassib, R.Nkemdiche, K.dodd.

Some of these guys deserve a roster spot you think?

thx

As someone mentioned in another thread it looks like Hargrave is playing himself into a roster spot for sure.
