What to do about IDP positions (1 Viewer)

sorry if this is the wrong board for this, but...

We us RTSports, and did a live draft, then loaded the rosters manually.

2 players, Suggs, Kampman and Ayers were taken as DL, but the site only allows them to be LB.

Has anyone had this issue? Seems it would be happening more and more.

Since the site wont make the position change, what else can we do? Its pretty late to be out hunting for a new site, which would most likely have other rule issues.

I said to keep them players as LB, and add another DL free of charge( we use a bidding system for free agents).

any help/advice is appreciated.

I would contact the support team at RTS Sports and see if they can help or make a suggestion. Most leagues put it in their bylaws/rules that whatever the software/site designations are that is what you roll with (somewhat of a buyer beware clause). If RTS does not have a solution and you feel obligated to keep them as DL's, you could have the owners make their intention known on weeks they wish to start these players as their DL's and do a manuel point adjustment.

That's exactly what we do, but it's obviously too late for you, now. Personally, I would (and I say this as a guy who lost Suggs himself!) treat this as being like a season-ending injury. C'est la guerre. Would you have compensated someone for Suggs blowing out a knee? I assume not. I know it really sucks, and I wasted a very early pick on Suggs myself (I could have have Mario Williams, dammit!!!), but I was aware of the risk when I went in.Did this happen to the commissioner? I am our commissioner, and it's always easier for the league to accept such rulings when it also affects the big guy.

PS, just cause they set their positions a month ago doesnt mean they are right. Robert Ayers isnt really a LB. I heard Denver is running more of a 5 man front now. Even if they ran a 4-3, Ayers isnt a LB. But thats not the point I guess.

I guess I league wide vote could solve it more diplomatically.

Not a fan of RT Sports, helped my daughetr and one of my niece's last week in a draft that uses RT. You have to go with what the site allows you to do.

As a player use it to your advantage. I was excited to get Orakpo as a DL.

MFL (My Fantasy League) is a great site.

Man, as a long-time commissioner, I feel your pain. I don't know what to tell you other than this will be tough. Just be honest, sympathetic, but make your ruling for the good of the league, rather than those teams. Hopefully, they'll understand.If this is the worst thing that happens all year, you'll have had smooth sailing in year one of commissioner!

I found a work-around. Those 3 teams, I enabled them to use those respecitve players as LB, but then only start 1(instead of 2) DL. So in place of 2DL, 2LB, 2DB they can start 1, 3, 2, if one of the 3 LB are the players involved in the position debate.

Our IDP scoring is the same for every position, so it really doesnt matter. I told all of them if they abuse this exception, they get 0 pts from the position for that given week.

Each week I will have to glance over everyones lineup to make sure everything else is legit.

I'd rather do that, than sign up and set up a new league site in 2 days, and pay another $X.

Good plan! You have probably already done this, but getting a rule in place for next year will save you this headache. My personal preference would be that people were at the mercy of what the stat service decides.

We will go with whatever our web site has from now on. Usually we use the sites draft app, but we were scattered all over the country and the site was slow, so we just IM'd the whole time. It went unnoticed until I loaded the rosters.
