What we have learned after week 3 (1 Viewer)

It's still only 3 weeks in but we can see some trends developing....

- New Orleans just may be legit. Sure there was a lot of emotion last night and the crowd was WAAAYYYY into the game, but they look like giant killers right now.

- I'm not a Texans fan, but I would easily trade Mario Williams and all the Texan RB's for Bush right now. Ron Dayne? :X

- When did Chicago become a high flying O? Grossman is on fire.

- GOOOOORRrrrreeeeeeeee Well, he hit a snag in the road. And that would be the Eagles who put up 21 in short order. Still put up double digits in PPR leagues :football: Oh, and he gets to play St. Louis and Arizona again this season.

- Nice to see Javon looking good.

- Let's not annoint Addai the starter in Indy just yet.

- This just in - the Phish aren't very good. 3 point win over the Titans?

- Did Kurt Warner forget who he plays for when he threw that Pick right into the chest of Dexter Coakley? I'm guessing he was thinking, "CRAP!!! I don't play for those guys anymore. Red jerseys. Red jerseys."

That's all I've got this week. Anyone else got anything? Oh, and I won't be doing this next week. I'll be in Mexico on my honeymoon :banned:

Fixed.

McNabb doesn't need TO to put up good numbers.

Brian Westbrook is a legitimate fantasy stud and probably the answer to the question "After the big 3 who should I take?"

- Reggie Bush was a good college player, but will be mediocre in the NFL. Think Nick Goings.

- Alex Smith will be at Peyton's level in less than a year.

- The Rudi/Westbrook combo for people who had a ####ty draft spot will win them fantasy titles.

- The Madden curse is for real. As a result, I have scotch-taped a photo of Joe Theismann to my copy of Madden 2007, and am praying the gods get fooled by it.

- Colston, Welker, and Cotchery prove that people who open their drafts bt going WR-WR or RB-WR-WR are NUTS.

Hey, if we ALL do that do you think the chances will increase that he stops talking? At the very least, we should all put a picture of Theisman's mouth on our Madden 2007 boxes.

- Reggie Bush was a good college player, but will be mediocre in the NFL. Think Nick Goings.- Alex Smith will be at Peyton's level in less than a year.
two gross exaggerations, but i do think bush is overrated and smith will be a solid pro.

-Braylon is becoming a top flight receiver more quickly than anticipated (after injury)

-Carson's ability to spread the ball around will cause hit-or-miss weeks for his wr's.

-Dre Johnson may finally be what FFers had hoped he would become for the last three years.

-Eli Manning doesnt remember who he started on his fantasy team until midway through the third quarter.

- Reggie Bush was a good college player, but will be mediocre in the NFL. Think Nick Goings.- Alex Smith will be at Peyton's level in less than a year.- The Rudi/Westbrook combo for people who had a ####ty draft spot will win them fantasy titles.- The Madden curse is for real. As a result, I have scotch-taped a photo of Joe Theismann to my copy of Madden 2007, and am praying the gods get fooled by it. - Colston, Welker, and Cotchery prove that people who open their drafts bt going WR-WR or RB-WR-WR are NUTS.
- mediocre is a bit harsh... he's already surpassed mediocre in his young pro career... has goings even played a snap this year???- smith needs a lot of work and luck to EVER reach the same tier as manning... peyton is a one of a kind talent at QB- i don't think many people were able to draft rudi and westy on the same team (outside guppie leagues)- i'll give you colston, but if you plan on relying on cotchery and welker as WR2s, you're going to be sorely disappointed as the season progresses

I would compare Reggie Bush to Nick Nolte before I would Nick Goings. Where did you pull that out of? Nevermind, I just came up with the answer.

- Reconstructive knee surgery is easy to recover from ... if you play in Ohio (Carson Palmer, Braylon Edwards)

- But not so much if you play in Florida (Daunte Culpepper)

Maybe it has something to do with the humidity.

Really. Maybe it does.

Tiki and Gates are no longer elite.
i would wait before i condemned gates... the chargers have played two turds to start the year...those couldn't even be considered real games honestly. i'm very anxious to see how they look vs someone who puts up a fight.

Better add these:

- Sometimes it is better to be lucky. For examples look at the Fins game and then the Bengals game.

-Farve (don't throw the dirt on his coffin just yet.) He leads all QBs after three weeks with 120 pass attempts.

- The Titans and Houston have the worst front offices in the NFL. The Titans with McNair or the Texans with Bush would not be nearly as bad of a team as what is on the field now.

- smith needs a lot of work and luck to EVER reach the same tier as manning... peyton is a one of a kind talent at QB
People have been saying that Smith is the most intelligent player they've seen come out of college in a long time. His only question mark was his throwing ability and accuracy and he's shown already this year that he has grown leaps and bounds in this category. His accuracy is spot on so far. And in the Eagles games, he also proved his toughness.
- i don't think many people were able to draft rudi and westy on the same team (outside guppie leagues).
No way. A lot of people were down on Westbrook due to an early pre-season injury and if you had the 8 or 9 spot, it was very likely that you could get Rudi in round 1, then swing back in round 2 and get Westy. Seen it happen dozens of times.
- i'll give you colston, but if you plan on relying on cotchery and welker as WR2s, you're going to be sorely disappointed as the season progresses
I never said I'd rely on them as a WR2. But by grabbing these guys you can draft RBs early then grab a couple fantastic WRs in rounds 3 and 4, and then have the guys I listed sitting as your 3-4-5 WRs.

It is what it is said:
Those who drafted Clinton Portis are loving life...

Those who drafted Shaun Alexander are hating life...

The Colts, Eagles and Bengals are the three best offensive teams in the NFL...

The Patriots made a big mistake in letting both 2005 starting WR's Branch and Givens go...

Seattle's defense is pretty good...

Houston's defense is pretty bad...
We may be adding San Fran to this mix by the end of the year. If Eric Johnson can stay healthy and they stay behind in games they will continue to keep putting the ball in the air.

- Reggie Bush was a good college player, but will be mediocre in the NFL. Think Nick Goings.

- Alex Smith will be at Peyton's level in less than a year.

- The Rudi/Westbrook combo for people who had a ####ty draft spot will win them the best team to crash out in the fantasy playoffs award.

Please God, dont EVER let Tomlinson make the cover of Madden. PLEASE!!!!

XI went RB-WR-WR and grabbed Colston, Cotchery AND Jennings off the wire this year to go with LT, Fitz, Chambers ( :X ), Branch and McCallister. I dont think Im NUTS. You just gotta know when and who to grab from the WW.

I'm not saying he's horrible, but your never going to know what kind of talent he is until he has some half-way decent WRs to throw to

XXXI dont know your draft spot, but I'd rather have a team of Rudi, McGahee, Javon Walker, Plaxico, Colston, Cochery... than what you mentioned. Starting out RB-RB. Maybe throw in Chester Taylor in the third round too.

The point is, you can pick up excellent receivers off the waiver wire. This lets you pick up solid RB choices early.

I never got the "you could have easily picked up so-and-so after the draft and that is why you should have waited on receivers" mantra. I mean, is your league first come first serve and you sit in front of the computer on sunday just itching to add the surprise reciever. In many leagues, you can't wait on these players. If you didn't draft them, it is a crapshoot whether you get them or not. How can you possibly depend on this?

Point being that there are ALWAYS free agent WRs that can be had once the season starts...I didnt wait on WRs, I went RB-WR-WR in my draft and still got quality WRs off the wire. I dont "depend" on getting quality WRs off the wire, but they CAN be had every year. I remember not putting in a request for a rookie named Boldin a few years back after week 1 who was undrafted in many leagues. Since then, I take the chance on WRs early. Sometimes they pay off, sometimes they dont, but I always have a spot or 2 for those possible breakout players. My league isnt FCFS, I picked up Colston and Cotch week 1 (I guess most in my league thought they were one week wonders), and Jennings week 2 (no idea why no one else put in for him). We cant pick up free agents until Tuesday and we have a set WW order. I was near the bottom both weeks but got those players anyway.

Monday Night Football is not the same!
100% correct. I can now turn on my speakers without having to listen to Fathead.
No Friggin kidding. I am so SICK of the FATHEAD commercials. These things are ridiculously expensive. Why? They have a commercial every SINGLE COMMERCIAL BREAK!!!!! Enough already. I'm sure Big Ben is a nice enough guy but I have the overwhelming urge to punch him every time I see that commercial. I'm sure he would pound the hell out of me, but if I saw him on the street I would have a hard time not taking a swing at the guy.....

:whoosh: and if this is sarcasm, then :whoosh: to me i guess

--Tampa Bay is in serious trouble. Anyone with a Buc can bench him with confidence.

--I'm still saying the NFC East stinks. The Giants are imploding, Dallas and Wash have bad QB's, and the Eagles can't finish anyone off.

--Sean Payton is a good head coach.

--The AFC will win the Super Bowl again.

--There is nothing to watch for highlights on Sunday nights anymore.

1. If the Falcons can't run, they are screwed

2. Chris Chambers is still below that 50% reception rate that has kept him from being an elite WR his whole career. However, he continues to get the majority of red zone looks

3. LJ Smith has always been and will continue to be inconsistent week after week

4. WR's on bad teams can be a very good thing, just ask Andre Johnson

5. Kellen Winslow II is a player! His will to win is very evident.

6. Jake Delhomme is a much different/better QB with Steve Smith in there. That's not necessarily a good thing.

7. Sean Payton looks be another good quality coach that spent time with the NY Giants organization

no one doubts smith's intelligence and toughness, but those qualities do not necessarily correlate to a tier 1 qb... is it possible that smith will reach manning's level? yes... is it likely? nopei guess it all depends on the type of league and the draft date (pre or post portis injury)... i don't have the ADP figures in front of me, but i can't imagine rudi dropping to 8 or 9 or westy dropping to 17+ in a non-PPR league... i also can't see westy lasting until 15+ in a PPR league, that would be required if rudi lasted until the 8 or 9 pick...

Tiki and Gates are no longer elite.
Jury's still out. It's only been three weeks. Two for Gates.
Giants moving to RBBC, Tiki won't even be Top 15
Giants | Jacobs to see increased action over course of seasonTue, 26 Sep 2006 13:16:42 -0700New York Giants running backs coach Jerald Ingram said backup RB Brandon Jacobs will continue to receive more of a workload relieving starting RB Tiki Barber throughout the season as they want him to gain experience and contribute more to the offense. "He's right there contributing and right where we want him to be," Ingram said of Jacobs. "We want him to be more, and hopefully as it goes on each week he's going to do more. He has to do more."
Gates has fewer targets than he had catches at this time last year. He'll be lucky to be top 10.

Your schtick is getting old. If you want to be in the minority and think Gates is going to bomb, so be it. But do you really need to apply, rinse, and repeat in EVERY thread? After two games, Gates is ranked 7th in PPR leagues. Be reminded that in those two games SD had no reason to pass since they've outscored their competition 67-7 and have been developing an inexperienced QB.I see no reason why Gates will do worse than he has to this point moving forward, let alone fall out of the Top 10.

Depends on where they drafted him. This week was the Texans- hell, they even made Betts look like a Pro Bowler.

Monday Night Football is not the same!
The way I look at it...2006 Sunday night football roughly = 2005 MNF (Same announcers, same production crew, same style)

2006 MNF >> 2005 Sunday night

However, NFL Primetime is sorely missed and Football Nighty-night in America needs some serious re-work. It needs energy, highlights...it needs FOOTBALL. We want Tom Jackson, not some converted baseball wonk who has spent a career trying to channel Vin Scully's voice. Actually that's an insult to Scully who is one of the best at putting some much needed excitement into coverage of an (obviously...it's baseball) boring baseball game.

Marques Colston is a football player

Rarely is a "good" team as good or a "bad" team as bad as they seem after 2 weeks.

oh,and

New England

QB Tom Brady is starting to lose his cool composure (frustration starting to show through his game face!)

New England has not lost back-to-back games since December 2002. The team's streak of 52 consecutive regular season games without back-to-back losses is tied for the third longest streak since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. After the way the Pats played Week 3, it is most likely this streak will end against the Bengals.

Stephen Gostkowski is not Adam Vinitairi! Two blocked Field Goals two weeks in a row!

The Patriots are lucky to be 2-1.
