What will be the biggest reach in the first round? (1 Viewer)

I think if ATLANTA gives up a "LOT" to move up to draft CJ that will end up being a huge reach with VICK "throwing" him the ball....He'll sell tickets in Atlanta but won't help THAT much for what it will definitely take to get him!

I can't believe anyone hasn't said Dwayne Jarrett......he will end up a Keyshawn Johnson possession type receiver at best.

Greg Olsen is another huge reach in the first round....I like Bloom's mock draft because despite what TE's are in the NFL these days...no TE in this draft class is worthy of a first rounder......but at least 1 will go in the first round

Maybe Atlanta will get a QB next year then...

Gaines Adams. The guy should not be taken in the top 10, let alone top 5. He's a top 15 talent who should be taken at the end of the first round.

I'm not saying you're right or not. But objectively how can any of us (you and I included) define with a straight face that someone is a top 15 talent but not a top 5 talent? Makes little sense; particularly when one looks at actual NFL drafts. It's clear that NFL personnel have a hard time figuring out the difference, so what qualifies you or I?

I believe a "reach" is someone who is picked at least 10-15 spots ahead of where the average mock draft has him going.

It has nothing to do with the players ability or his real ranking. IMO

That's just my opinion, Adams might become a star in the league in the future but I don't think so. Top 5 IMO are supposed to be GREAT college players, rare talents or players with a lot of potential. Adams was good in college, but he was nothing special. He's a bit small and not that fast and the DEs are getting bigger and bigger (there are exceptions, of course). I think Adams will be a situational player, he might be there 1 or 2 downs/3 but I don't think he'll ever sniff the Pro Bowl.

Thank you. I was starting to wonder if I was the only one who realized what a reach was.

Keyshaun Johnson has been a very good NFL player. Getting his career production after pick 20 or so would be a blessing.

Okoye, without question. I would take a healthy Justin Harrell or a motivated Alan Branch over him every day of the week.
I didn't want to say it because of the way some gush about the kid, but yeah this is a :bag:
We don't live in imaginary world. IF Harrell is healthy of IF Alan Branch is motivated, they may be better than Okoye.IF IF IF IF IF IF.
It was a torn bicep, not a torn spinal cord.

What's your point? If a NFL prospect isn't a paraplegic, any injuries he may or may not have sustained in the past doesn't mean crap as long as he can walk?

From everything I'm reading, I don't see Gaines Adams being worthy of a top 5 pick. He should be a good player in time, but does he immediately upgrade a defense like say a Julius Peppers? I'm scared the Bucs may end up taking him @ #4.
That would prevent Washington from making the mistake, but likely ensure they make it worse by taking Landry. That would be the biggest reach.
Ironic because Landry is the one defensive guy I think the Bucs could justify @ #4 if CJ & JT are gone. Landry projects as a potential leader on D (after Brooks & Barber are gone) and I feel like the D-Line can be addressed in rounds 2 - 3. Safety (and future leadership) are positions of need here. IMO
Drafting a safety with the 4th overall pick? :goodposting:
They go higher every year. Landry > Huff

Forgot one. Posluszny, if taken in the first round will be a colossal waste of a top pick. Solid but not at all a first rounder.
I couldn't disagree with you more. I think Poz is going to be a stud LB for many years, and I think he is actually underrated.
You're from Pennsylvania.....OF COURSE YOU DISAGREE and think he's going to be a stud for many years. That being said, I think NO will take him to add to their Oreo defense.
