Whatcha got cookin and drinkin at your draft party? (1 Viewer)

With the NFL screwing up my yearly Saturday binge fest, Ive had to come up with a different approach to about only 6 hours of debauchery and having to work the next day. Yes, im bitter.

So I have only a standard 24 pack of Corona, staple drink of the event.

Wings and buffalo chicken wraps will be the food choices along with some green colored items that usually dont get eaten unless by mistake.

Current plan is to buffer 5 or so picks at a time on the DVR and maybe get some Madden in-between.

Any good drinking games for this year?

Im sure this year will be quite timid compared to years past.

How bout you?

I agree with you about the NFL screwing the pooch with this Thursday start-up.

I'm gonna try to DVR the 1st round, stay in an info-free bubble, and watch it Friday afternoon / evening with peeps. And then the 2nd and 3rd after.

Ahhh, the good old days, before marriage and kids. Used to be pizza, nachos, and the like. The best part: not moving for 12 + hours.

Now I'll be watching for a few hours and then to bed. Will read about it online next AM.

It definitely isn't ideal, but the Thursday night thing is really starting to grow on me...maybe because I have 2 little kids and I know my days of sitting on the couch for 2 days are LONG GONE. Now I can spread it over 3 days and have a little party each day!

Nice - kinda like Hannukah only 5 days shorter.

i refuse to watch this on Thursday since the NFL decided to screw up our draft viewing party.

Seriously how are people suppose to have their parties when it starts at 7:30 PM and won't be over until about midnight. You know people have responsibilities the next day with work and kids. It is an absolute disgrace what the NFL is doing here.

All they wanted were higher TV raitings which will happen since most people will be in their homes watching this instead of going out.

:shrug:Since I moved to Florida, the weekend of the draft has typically been the weekend when the pool finally warms up to the mid 70s. A cooler full of good imported beer and some sausages on the grill while floating around the pool all day with draft coverage on Sirius was my tradition for the past 8 years. Now they've gone and ruined it.

jeebus, don't you people have sick days? We will grill, beers, nachos and a shot of bushmills every time they flashback to Brady Quinn looking more and more like he's sitting on a plunger as his draft stock plummets.

Actually, I have a meeting on Friday so I'll probably watch a little with my pregnant wife then hit the hay before my team even picks.

After 15 years our NFL Draft Party is cancelled by a unaimous vote.

I am not willing to play the NFL ratings game so I will not watch at all.

I have just moved another step away from the NFL. I think in 5 years I will be done.

With the decreased time between picks, the first round is only supposed to last until about 10:30 ET. Even if you're an East Coaster, you should be able to stay up until your team picks, unless you're over 60.

I'm taking leave for the draft, just like I take leave every year for the opening weekend. It's showing live in New Zealand for the first time ever, so I think the new format is pretty much the greatest decision in NFL history.

The entire format is inconvenient for me. My life no longer revolves around the NFL.

Apropos of nothing, but thanks for the comment.

Completely! I have been a fan for a long time and the NFL has been passing me by. It may happen to you one day too.

 Heading to the bar myself

We actually had to move the party to a place of business this year since none of the wives where excited about a Thursday night party. But it's a nice cigar bar with lounge chairs and they'll be serving wings and a lot of meat/cheese/veggie platters. We are also for the first time playing a draft skins game. Everyone puts in a buck and predicts the first pick, if two people get it right the pot carries and everyone puts in another buck until 1 person is the only one with a correct answer and they take the pot. I have no idea if it will work out, but we figured it was worth a try. Anyone else have any suggests for draft games?

I sure hope not. I think as long as they don't move games to Tuesdays mornings, I'm in for the long haul. NOTHING can beat football imo.

is that like "the ballet"? if so... although I am not sure what to make of the meat/cheese platters  yuck.

All You Can Eat Boneless Wings for $12.99 Tijuana Thursday's Featuring $2.00 Tecate and Margaritas, $2.50 Selected Mexican Beers, and $4.00 Mexican Martinis
I just found a place near me that has $7 pitchers and $9.99 all you can eat wings from picks 1-32. Another place has a buffet (decent food) - plus all bottled beers and well liquors for $25 a head unlimited from 7-11:00. Think I may need to do one of those.

Living in Europe means that I'll be starting the first round at 30 minutes past midnight, so I think I'll go with something more simple like nachos and dip. Up all night for the draft, baby. Bring it on!

Or rather, he knows who takes off the pants in the relationship...-Another Married Dude

I'm just liking that I'll be able to watch the first round for the first time in 5 years. The last Saturday in April is my annual marathon, so I'd always miss the first part of the draft. It was kind of cool relaxing afterwards and catching up on the picks but I'll actually watch it live this year :scared:

Any true NFL fan is already cultivating their sick day on Friday. Maybe a little horse throat, maybe a complaint of some sinus congestion to the boss. Come on here. This is the Draft. It is way more important than your job.

I wasn't a big fan of the Thursday night thing at first, but now I'm kind of pumped about it. Watching the Raiders pick Dez Bryant in Prime Time will be even more funny than on Saturday morning! :kicksrock:

Two biggest days of my nearly 5 year career are Thursday and Friday. The NFL really jobbed me this time around.

i work nights so the STUPID :hot: thursday/friday night means ill be watching on dvr . ill be checking on computer at break at work over a fantastic cup of 15cent coffee from the machine and a package of chocolate wax mini doughnuts

Why the sick day, it will be over in 3 hours?
