What's the deal with Lito Sheppard? (1 Viewer)

The Eagles obviously couldn't move him on draft weekend. The Jags showed interest. The Bengals could sure use his services with their sorry state of defense. I don't see the Eagles wanting to deal him to an NFC team, so what gives?

Meanwhile, Sheppard reported to mini-camps this weekend like it's business as usual. I can see where it would serve them well in keeping him along with Asante Samuel and Sheldon Brown, but isn't the writing already on the wall or not?

Is he damaged goods and we just don't know it, or is the asking price too high?

I never understood why they did not move him earlier. If they still intend on moving him, the Eagles better be careful, because if he gets injured, they are going to have a tougher time getting the value they want in return.

Eagles coach Andy Reid won't talk about Lito Sheppard-

During a Monday press conference, Eagles coach Andy Reid was asked about whether the situation involving cornerback Lito Sheppard is any closer to being resolved.

Reid refused to address it. “I’m not going to get into all of that,” he said.

But the issue continues to hover over the team, like the scent from the byproducts of a beans-and-bananas brunch. Will Sheppard be traded? Or will he spend another year with the team that clearly wanted to trade him? If so, will he be happy with a base salary for 2008 that equates to less than ten percent of Asante Samuel’s guaranteed pay?
