What's the oldest "classic" thread you remember at FBG (or FFT) (1 Viewer)

There are so many.  Can't tell you how many times I've spit iced tea on my keyboard or busted out laughing to the point of tears.  Wife - "let me guess, another FBG thread".  Some genius in here, especially of the comedic variety. 

Colonblow diaries was hilarious.  But the best for me are living vicariously through tales in threads from AZRon, EvilGrin, 'Pissah and many others.  The iDating threads are great too.  Yoga Pants is not old but an instant classic.  The "dot" discussion was interesting.  Love how some guys were color coding wall calendars and keeping score.

 
Has to be 10 years ago - and it didn't last long - but there was a thread about another message board called something like Women Who Hate Fantasy Football; a place where women could commiserate about all of the time their guys spent playing FF.

Well, several fine upstanding posters here decided to join. They picked misogynistic user names ("Ike Turner" with an avatar of Ike smacking Tina around; "Make Me A Sammich"; some that I can't post here) and many had avatars that were the hardest-core pron. Dozens of anti-woman threads popped up over there. I think they had a run of about two days before the mod started banning.

 
Not really a "classic", but who was the dude who would come on here and post links to his legit interviews, and then get made fun of?  The interviews always started with "First of all, how is everything?" or something like that.

Also some pretty funny Christmas present shenanigans... Woz?

That Lebron guy turned out OK after all. Maybe not such an awful pairing with Jerry West.

I remember where I was when I made that pick, covering for a friend at his job representing and showing apartments in a building in Manhattan. Awaiting the incoming uproar I typed it in and watched people go apoplectic 

 
While I was on the board a couple years already I don't recall anything specific before the 9/11 thread.  As a NYer directly affected by that awful day, this board was a crucial part of my coping that day and in the immediate aftermath.

My first memory was sitting in the John at my fathers during XMas - I think 1999 - wondering how does someone break into this stupid clique?  Here I am, pushing two decades latter still trying.

Maybe it wasn't a classic, but wasn't there a thread here about confirming some chick so he took a pic of her with a penny on her ###?  Asspenny?

 
I always mention this one in these kinds of threads, but Wheelhouse/camera/neighbor's boobs probably resulted in more carnage than any other single act in the FFA's history

People calling Shick's or tanner's work, I forget which, was pretty bad. No idea what thread caused it.

That was Shick!, though maybe it happened to Tanner, too, and I've forgotten.

I know worlds collided in the aforementioned Wheelhouse thread, as someone here found out who he and the neighbors were in real life (Wheelhouse posted said boob pics here), and got ahold of the husband of the camera-boob lady to tell him what was happening here. 

 
We could fill a whole separate thread with "posters trying to bring i-life into real life."  Wheelhouse has to take the prize there, but calling a dude's work is worse in some respects.  Then there's always the threat stuff, at least BobbyLayne and Imp on one or more occasions PM'd threats to show up at my house, and I'm sure there's been far worse for others around here. The various cornhole threads would be the lighter/happier side of this coin.

I'm not doubting you - and Imp, I could see maybe - but BobbyLayne? That surprises me, as he always seemed pretty cool in my dealings with him.

As for the cornhole threads, I found myself in the middle of a mini-controversy regarding one. It was coshole2013 which was set up, in part, because I was dealing with some pretty nasty medical ####. There had to be at least 20 people from this board that spent some or all of that weekend in Austin. It was the Super Bowl between the 49ers and the Ravens (the team I root for). In addition, one FFA member who was there set up a squares pool thread here and many who were not at coshole got in. I seem to recall that there was a video posted of the numbers-drawing (I tried to be the camera man, but failed miserably). Anyway, some non-attendees were not happy that the "best" numbers seemed to belong to the folks in Austin. And then, I ended up hitting the final quarter on the Ravens' taking a safety. There was a minor snit thrown by some here that - IIRC - 3 of the 4 payouts were to those present in Austin.

I used to only visit FFT's Geek Club bored but my interest in this place was piqued after some FBGs(the username Zippy Chi is the only one I remember at this point) undertook a 'jihad' there.  I had to look at my profile to find the time frame of when I joined; turns out it was '05 even thought I thought I had been here since '03 or so.

Anyway, hard to believe it's been 11 years.  I've read through some of the threads listed, and while I can't argue the epic-ness of any of them, I didn't feel like 'one of the gang' and 'worthy' enough to post in most of them.  I did like contributing to(and reading) the 80's music thread, as well as getting riled up enough to take a stand in the Chik-Fil-A thread, and  :kicksrock:  over feeling too intimidated to get into the All-Time Soccer Draft before it was too late.  Also, somewhere along the line, I put Spartans Rule (I think that's the one) on ignore but can't remember why at this point.  I think the next time I see one of his posts, I'll un-ignore him.

To be honest, it's not any thread/s that's hooked me so much as it is the personality of the board as evidenced by the folks who post. An example of what I mean is the unexplained comfort of a 'Friday thread' appearing and taking shape, or the typical exchange and nuance of phrase that almost seems predestined to happen when any given subject comes up, the 'batsignals' if you will. Bottom line, I guess I've been institutionalized.

It happened. And it was really weird, I had no idea who the guy was. Maybe an off the meds kind of thing, who knows, because others had a similarly surprised reaction.  

As for Imp, we became iBuds after that. Whatever happened to him anyway?

And The New York Times. True story. He was mad that I leaked here a NYC terror threat I received, from a tattood girl I was dating (she was super hot in the body but super not in the face, I met her on a cruise with my family and promptly made relations with her on the top deck of the cruise ship one night).  Anyway, yeah, that was weird too.
