When is the last time a team threw for 72 yards total in one game? (1 Viewer)

Ministry of Pain

72 yards last night. Tavaris Jackson went 2 for 4...did anyone watch the game? Should they maybe try to let him zip it around in the preseason when the games don't matter? I have no stake in the MN passing attack but it looks downright pathetic and echos what many have been saying since April.

You would think they would want to see more, agreed. They were up early with INTs and TDs by the defense, still in the preseason, don't you know what you want to run and see? I would think they would do their plays no matter what the score.

I think most agree the Vikings passing game is a work in progress, However, when yourdefense scores two TD's in the first half it does limit the amount of time Jackson got to play, he only attempted 4 passes, and they didn't want to play him more then a quarter (he did play more then one quarter but not much more). This Viking team in 2007 is about AP, and the defense which has scored 4 TD's in two pre-season games. I also do not and will not have any stake in the MN passing game, but the running game may be very profitable this year in FF.

Half the Raider games last year..

I don't understand why they pulled Jackson so early. He needs all the work he can get. Heck, let him play with the second and third teams.

In their second game against the Falcons last year, Weinke went 4/7 for 32 yards against the Falcons, for the full game, yet managed to win with the barn burning score of 10-3.

The Vikings had 58 seconds of possession time in the 1st quarter. Mainly because the Jets would drive some, then the Vikes get a pick to the house so the Jets get the ball back. Then the Jets drive some again running more time off, and another pick to the house.

They pulled him because (as you saw in the 2nd through 4th quarters) they have ZERO for backups and can't afford to get him hurt...even if he does need the reps, he needs to be healthy even more because he is the only talent they have at the position.

I can't ever think of a more dreadful QB situation entering a season. Yes, I was on record for hating the Aaron Brooks signing last year, but at least he had some success in the league prior to coming to Oakland, and the backups weren't completely awful on paper.

But a QB roster consisting of Tarvaris Jackson, Brooks Bollinger, Tyler Thigpen & Drew Henson?

Better have Randall Cunningham, Warren Moon and Jeff George on speed dial.

I can recall a few David Carr games like that, and both were Texans' wins if you can believe that. Last season I believe Carr had 32 yards against the Raiders. In the Texans' inaugural season, we beat Pittsburgh with 47 TOTAL yards of offense. Aaron Glenn returned 2 INTS for TDs, and someone else returned a fumble for a TD.

I haven't seen anything out of Jackson, including last night, that convinces me that he is any better than Bollinger or Henson.Bottom line is he needs reps.

What was the game a few years back where Houston had like 40 total yards and beat Tommy Maddox and the Steelers?
