When the NFL finally resumes how long will FA take? (1 Viewer)

I want to know how long you think it will take for the free agency process. Not so much how long before it would start but how long would teams and players need to run that entire process? Most years it is ongoing up through the draft and then after as well. Sure, most big names are signed within a few days but many times the 1st week tells a team where they need to go the 2nd week if they struck out or f they did land who they wanted thus adding more pieces.

It seems like June is wiped out and then the possibility of July is looking more and more far fetched...are we looking at August which is typically preseason and now we have free agency going on in full swing while training camps are underway?

Is it realistic to think FA can happen in a week?

I was thinking 2 weeks.

Technically, I don't think it ever ends...you can always add a FA throughout the season. My guess is that the big names get signed and also the UDFAs pretty quickly, but it would not surprise me at all if there are guys still out there in the first couple of weeks of the seasoon, as teams use the first few games as a "proving ground" for players 45-53 and start cutting and adding as they deem fit. I would not also be surprised if the season starts within a week of a new agreement, to see a few players who normally would have been signed, never get signed as teams choose to go with what they have and not rock the boat.

i agree that it will just be a process as teams get to camp and bring guys in as needed. Should be interesting to see what front offices focus on right off the bat. UDFA's are a good bargain, but obviously they may not have enough time to properly evaluate those guys with shortened off season. I have heard that rosters could be expanded to 58 players this season to make up for the missed camp (so teams can evaluate players as they go along)

I think it'll happen quick and as has been said the big free agents will go early. Will be interesting to see how the rookie free agents play out.

There is also talk of expanding rosters to give more time to evaluate players.

I think there's already a number of "wink wink" deals in place already for UDFA. There's at least two UDFA WRs that have been working out in Hoboken with Eli Manning and the other Giant players during informal workouts.
