Where does Shockey end up? (1 Viewer)

Where does everyone think he'll end up?

Back with the G-men?

Seattle has been looking for a TE?

Where do you think.

Could he end up with the Jets like everyone else this offseason?

Houston, another target for Schaub.

Thoughts.

Back with the G-men? Most likely in my eyes

Seattle has been looking for a TE? Good landing spot, could have cap if SA is cut, Hackett isn't resigned

Could he end up with the Jets like everyone else this offseason? Doubtful

Houston, another target for Schaub. Daniels is $$
NO would be a great landing spot.

Everything I've heard and seen coming from the Giants is he will be with them next year. Eli loves him, and I don't think he was the "cancer" some people made him out to be.

All of the "experts" say he's gone next year due to Eli NOT getting along with him and the team rolling along better without him. I can't say cause I wasn't in the locker room last year but supposively the locker room got alot better after his injury.

Uhhhh...I'm going to go out on a limb and say....New York Giants!

They have already said that he's not going anywhere...it's a dead story.

Why would the Giants trade him? Unless they got huge value, the guy is one of the leagues best TEs - and I dont mean receiving (because he is very overated in that department). But his blocking would be tough to replace. Plus, having both he AND Boss in some two TE sets could be a nice wrinkle next year.

Now, Shockey has to finally learn his place and shut up a bit - and if he does not or the team feels he wont then they should consider trading him. Otherwise, there is too much to replace (non catching) to trade him for anything but very good value.

I think Shockey is staying in NY, and it is going to go one of two ways. Either he becomes humbled by the fact that the Giants achieved the ultimate success without him, or he winds up sulking about the fact that he is not nearly as important to the Giants as he thought.

If it's the later, he could wind up in a funk that he never gets out of as a Giant. God forbid he drops an easy catch at home and the fans start to chant BOSS. Shockey is an emotional guy, and if he is feeling sorry for himself it could lead to problems.

If however Shockey is humbled by seeing his team not even miss him during the playoffs and Super Bowl, it could be the catalyst that gets him to focus on improving his game. Up until he got hurt, I think Shockey had a very loud voice in the locker room due to his Pro Bowls, star factor and pedigree. Consequently I don't think he was held accountable for some of his actions and mistakes. Now he will be in a locker room where every guy has earned a Super Bowl ring, except Shockey.

The 1st indicator of how it plays out will be what Shockey does this Spring. If he continues his past ways by staying away from NY during the offseason, and does not come to work with Eli at any OTAs, we will know it's the same old Shockey attitude.

Any links?I've heard some speculation but I haven't heard anything quoted anywhere. The only thing I've heard from any Giants is he will be back.

:lmao: I never heard anyone say "he will be gone". I've heard people speculate along the lines that "if" the Giants didn't bring him back he could go (insert teams that may need a TE).... I strongly believe he would be with the Giants next year.

:goodposting: thats all i've really gotten out of the "experts" as well. i dont think shockey will be anything but a giant at the start of the season. the only way i see shockey being traded is if it happens before the trade deadline. That is only if he keeps up the same overly dramatic offseason antics now that another solid TE has emerged in Boss. I personally think he keeps his mouth shut and mans up and just plays. Which is scary if he can actually do that with all his ability.

:goodposting: On the money. The key is paragraph #4. I'll bet he is nowhere to be found while Boss trains with Eli. He will do his token appearance when mandated and that's it. The rest of the time will be spent 'training' in south Florida. Beach, bars, maybe catch a ball or 2, etc.

RE: Shockey and Eli not getting along. Not sure I buy that. Not only do they live in the same building in Hoboken, but they party together quite a bit. They may have on field issues, and Shockey may be a divisive presence in the locker room, but I don't think it has anything to do with his relationship with Eli.

The Giants aren't going to give him up for nothing. It's silly to think they're a better team with Boss at TE; they're not.

I heard radio discussions that the Saints inquired, but that the draft picks the Giants were after were more than the Saints were willing to give up. Seems like they mentioned a 2nd rounder, but it might have been third.

Maybe the Giants will go down on their asking price closer ot the draft if they sense the same attitude. I also read in "The GM" that Shockey was a favorite of Acorsi, the previous Giant GM. Maybe Shockey has fewer folks in his corner there now.

Regardless if they are neighbors or even party together. I am pretty sure that the QB would much prefer to be able to practice together more with his receivers. With Shockey in South Florida and Burress always missing practice hurt, this has impcted the Giant passing game for the past couple of years.

No one's disputing that. But the media (and message boards) tend to take things they THINK are accurate and run with them. Seems all too easy for people to say "Eli and Shockey don't get along" when that really couldn't be farther from the truth.

He'll be back in New York. While he's not in the elite as far as TE receivers, he is a solid blocker & still amongst one of the Top 10 combo TE's in the league. I think he's worth a 1st rounder. His value right now is at an all-time low, so I doubt someone would give a 1st.

I think that Shockey will be back, he will still be a pain in the side of management and fans, and he will still play his heart out, get banged up, and think he's better than he is.

In other words, nothing will change. This idea that these players with huge egos are somehow able to be humbled always makes me laugh. My guess is that Shockey thinks they close out GB and Dallas easier with him, and don't struggle just to make the playoffs. And the Giants brass probably agrees.

So I also think the preseason will be telling. After the umpteenth reporter asks him how he felt not playing in the Super Bowl, he will probably have a chip on his shoulder and want to prove his worth. But that will be ego, not humility, driving him.

BTW, I'm a Shockey and Giant fan.
