Where is the Ravens vs. Patriots thread? Oh, here it is (1 Viewer)

That was one stupid play call. If you score there, you give the Patriots a chacne to tie or win.
:goodposting:
Was Smith the first read? Even if you're throwing underneath you have guys running the safeties off deep. Might have just been a bad read by Flacco.
Exactly. Most of the time teams have someone running a deep route... Flacco just didn't see the safety or whatever. Play call was fine, execution wasnt.

wow.cant believe NE won.congrats Pats fans. you beat a team not expected to be here.

point to take:NE wont win anything.defense cant stop the run , offense cant run. Denver should kill you next week.if not seattle.

typical NE.how Brady didnt get a flag for nearly headbutting the ref.Jeez..good comeback..enjoy it.

Terry B. just commented on how different the NFL is now... 95 passes in this game. 95. Wow, that really does put it in perspective.

Brady was fantastic today. He carried the team on his back.

Amendola was awesome as well. Played with a lot of heart. Made some very big plays through extra effort.

Defense was atrocious. Something is seriously wrong with that defensive line. They were getting loan up from start to finish. The only time Flacco got in trouble was when he tripped over himself. Would love to find out what went wrong there. Is the Ravens O-Line that good? The Pats better figure it out real quick.

Why did they stop the clock after that first down play??? He was clearly way out of bounds. The Ravens lost half a minute of play, easily.
Somebody go rewind this when it's over and tell me I'm wrong. How in the world does that happen?
If you are talking about the play he went out of bound with 5:01 to go it's because there was over 5 mins left they always wind the clock when more than 5 minutes are left.
But why so fast did it start back up again?

Patriots are first team in NFL history to overcome multiple 14 point deficiencies and win a playoff game.

When Baltimore went up by 14 in the 3rd quarter their win percentage was 84.9%.

On twitter, RE: Edelman TD:

I can't remember the last time I saw a white dude throw it to a white dude, who then threw it to another white dude for a touchdown.

Great game, Ravens did their fans proud.

I am shocked at how poorly the NE def played at times, but in the end they made enough plays to win it

Two dubious calls that went for the Ravens:

1. The defensive holding penalty on Revis that wiped out a fumble recovery by the Patriots;

2. Flacco's "incompletion" with about 4 minutes to go, that was actually a fumble.

Both of those kept the Ravens in it until the last second. Shady.

Goodell was there making sure his golfing buddy Bisciotti was getting the calls...

So impressed by Harbaugh, by Flacco, by Smith in particular. Sucks for them to completely outplay the opponent and lose, but it does happen.

The Gronk hold is the only real gripe.

Revis obviously grabbed the jersey. Could have gone either way, and it went the other way on 3rd down in the end zone on the same drive. The incomplete pass, looked like an incomplete pass and BB could have just as easily challenged it if he wanted to.

Of everything to complain about, those seem pretty silly.

Thought the Revis contact was pretty minimal. A couple of fingers to the shoulder.

You're right - Belichick is an idiot for not challenging that "incompletion".

when are they gonna fire that dude

balt delivered about what you'd expect

that team's about the closest thing to the pats in the league, outside the actual pats.

they'll be right back in it next year

Something I just noticed watching the replay of Flacco's horrible interception. After he rolls left a bit, there is NOBODY within ten yards of him. The D-lineman are all engaged in blocks, and the LBs peeled off and are running downfield and chasing crossing patterns on the other side of the field. Even though he runs like his feet are in cement, he picks up an easy 20 yards there if he takes off. I just don't understand forcing that throw. Still plenty of time to run Forsett, too. Harbaugh is gonna be sick when he watches this tape.

The Revis call was not egregious, it could have been called either way. But in the playoffs Revis gets away with it 99 out of 100 times. And a no name CB still gets away with it more often than not playoff time. And it was such a huge swing. The game might have ended on that play if it hadn't been called.

The refs didn't get it wrong. But it sure stings if the Pats lose the game.

A benefit to having a name like Revis or Seymour. They get away with stuff most guys don't.

Ironic, ain't it?

Trolling or delusional?ETA. And I am a Pats HATER DAMMIT.
As big a Patriots homer as there is, and I was having a full blown heart attack all game. I thought the Ravens dominated both sides of the ball and the Ravens clearly outplayed the Patriots. We disagree.

Seemed to me the Ravens couldn't stop Brady. And the Pats couldn't stop anyone. I can't understand why the Ravens stopped running. They seemed to be getting 7 or 8 a play. Then again maybe the Pats made an adjustment to that.

The Pats put up 35 points on the vaunted Suggs led Ravens D. You can disagree that the sky is blue too but it doesn't make you right. The Pats D in the second half gave up 10 points and forced 2 turnovers (almost 3). I agree they didn't play well defensively and Brady had a brain fart once again at the end of the first half but the Pats made plenty of plays on both sides of the ball that helped them win the game. They certainly were not dominated on both sides of the ball.

Agreed. They blew the Gronk mugging - which is actually a big call early in the game when a team risks a big deficit.

Revis grabbed Smith's jersey. Not sure why that is in question?

Appreciate a compelling game after mainly snoozers last week. Officiating seemed balanced; taunting calls went each way. I got the impression the refs wanted to keep things under control.

I expected more discussion on the incompletion. What was ironic is it is so close to a "tuck play". Of course the rules have been changed since... but I wish they'd shown another replay there. It looked like Flacco pushed it forward - which is what the refs saw. They seem to focus on the arm forward or fumble aspect of the play in those situations... From a technical perspective, should grounding be a consideration? Big difference in conversion yardage with 4th down coming up

Agree with all comments.

If a QB can just "push" the ball forward like that, why wouldn't QB's do that more often?

Again, thanks NFL for a compelling game...

I'll give Belichick credit for two clever plays. That WR ineligible declaration and the trick play with Edelman throwing the TD. However, clock management at the end was debatable...

I thought Brady's accuracy was poor on a lot of throws. Obviously, the pick at the end of the half but there were also 3-4 throws that were low or behind the receiver.

Harbaugh's decisions to go for it on 4th down deserve mention, especially earlier when it wasn't "necessary". Tucker has a great leg so even a 50+ yarder seems easy. Not sure how much distance the temperature would cost him...

Flacco and Forsett looked good; The Ravens' o-line does a great job of both pass protection and run blocking. They certainly had the more balanced offensive attack. That particular style travels well and explains a good deal of their road success.

Vaunted Suggs led Ravens D? Their secondary was a known weakness all year long. Nothing vaunted about that D at all.
