Hey Gang,
This the 12th season of our 10 team, 10 player salary cap keeper. I will not bore you with all of the details; the main takeaways are that it is not a dynasty, you might have to actually trade away players if you have more than 10 good ones and the cap rarely comes into play unless you are just stacked with studs. We keep 10 on active roster and can keep up to 4 on a taxi squad for 14 total keepers (assuming you keep 4 taxi guys to develop as they don’t count against cap) going into the draft. This off-season we also move to .5 PPR.
A little background: I was stuck in the middle of the pack purgatory for about 4 straight years, I sold off players to build back through the draft, went from the bottom to the top in 2 years, and stayed an elite team for 2 more years. Then it caught up to me and by week 6 it was obvious I couldn't hang with the top teams in my division, so I punted for another rebuild with this draft instead of being stuck in the middle of the pack again. I made some aggressive moves; traded L. Bell for what I thought could be multiple top 3-4 picks and promising young WRs and ended up sitting here a month before the draft with picks 1, 2, 4, 10, 11, 12, 21 & 22. I also wanted to mention that this league cycles the champs, I have picks 1, 2 and 4 and the 1.03 owner are the last two champs, so this is not unusual and I feel confident I can get back to top quickly.
Starting requirements: QB/2RBs/3WRs/TE/Flex/K/D
Current roster:
QB: Cousins
RB: Crowell, Miller
WR: Julio, DT, Maclin, Parker, M. Jones
TE: Ertz
Taxi: Lockett, K. White (not sold on either, but they don't cost anything to keep on taxi until they boom/bust)
Ideally, I would like to restock the shelves with young stud RBs, but Davis is sitting out there and the .5 ppr could come into play a little as well as my aging WR corps. Ultimately, I think I would like to come out of the first 3 picks with Fournette, Mixon and Davis, but I think the 1.03 guy will snag Mixon or LF if I don’t take them 1st and 2nd. Do I risk missing the possible stud WR just to nail down my top 2 RBs? The way I’ve been looking at it, I don't really feel I can go wrong if he does take Davis, because then I’ll get my choice of the top 3 RBs in this class and could use the 10, 11 and 12 to go after guys like Ross, Kamara and Howard.
Ideally, I'd like to see it play out like this through these first 12 picks...
1.01 Fournette
1.02 Mixon
1.04 Davis
1.10 Kamara
1.11 Ross
1.12 Howard
If this was your team, what would be your best-case scenario coming out of these first 6 picks?
