It seemed like the Royals almost had something a couple years when they brought in Hillman, signed Meche and had Greinke, Gordon and Butler on the rise. But then they remembered they are the Royals.
Looks like a nothing but continuing gloom and doom now.
Apologies are in order for everyone who berated management for trading Myers for Shields. Young and up and coming teams need a horse like Shields at the top of the rotation. Myers is starting to smell a little bit like Ben Grieve.
There was an article at FanGraphs about him earlier this year. His average velocity for his four seamer was 92 when he was a starter with Tampa, and it's close to 96 this year. Yesterday he was hitting 98-100 while striking out the side.
