Costas Now, is an incredible sports talk show on HBO. He aired a 90 minute show about the various outlets of Sports media. They went over the positives/ negatives along with various personalties of the specific fields.

All the local talk radio show hosts admits that there has to be a hero, and a goat (player/coach who all the fingers are point for your teams failure)

The NY media is relentless when it comes to this.

Hero- Eli Manning- Took down the undefeated Patriots with an incredible game winning drive.

Goat- Chad Pennington- lol, they call him noodle arms. At least Eli lost his Happy Feet nick name...

In Indy the heros have to be Peyton and Dungy. They are a couple of well spoken all around good guys.

The Colts don't have many goats, but I'd say it is definitely Marvin right now. There is talk of him taking the second half of the season off and with this new shooting he is reaching goat status. I don't necesarily agree with this but I have one question I'd ask him.

What's up with that crappy ### carwash and run down "nightclub"? Geez! I thought you were better than that.

Cleveland Hero King James

Goat: Herschel Walker

Goat NYG: 2007 - Jan of 2008 - Eli Manning

Hero NYG Feb of 2008 and beyond - Eli Manning

U can never figure that city out.

Pats heroes:

- Current: Brady, Belichick*, Bruschi, Vrabel - I could go on, but since these three have three rings, they probably top the list.

- All-time: In addition to plenty of the current roster, John Hannah, Andre Tippett and possibly Willie McGinest.

Pats goats:

- Current: Tough call, but perhaps Asante Samuel for dropping a (admittedly difficult) pick that would have won SB42, then bolting for the big bucks. I think that's a stretch, though.

- All-time: Victor Kiam, Zeke Mowatt, Rod Rust and others associated with the 1-15 and 2-14 seasons. Tony Eason takes a lot of heat, as does Pete Carroll. Adam Vinatieri is nicknamed 'Vinatraitor' for taking a $500K raise and going to the Colts, but I'm not sure he's really a goat. The Sullivan family gets a ton of deserved ridicule despite being the reason the Pats even exist.

I'm sure others can chime in.

* Obvious bullseye for spygate-related responses. Bring them on if it makes you feel better.

Hero - Pick a 70's steeler, Ward, Myron Cope, The Bus, Big Ben

Goat - A qb between Bradshaw - Ben - Burress

Not enough love - Louie Lipps - Rod Woodson - Greg Lloyd

Buffalo Bills

Jim Kelly

I hope when you mean GOAT you mean Greatest of All Time, cuz Thurman was great, but OJ was a beast. H was one of the best all time. Him killing his ex-wife and her boyfriend should have nothing to do with his on the field attributes.

goats - Shannahan, a lot of fans want him gone

Jay Cutler, because he's not John Elway
Wasn't that Brian Greise?
In Denver, it goes with any QB that isn't John Elway. Just don't try to understand it. I'll say that I was one of those that did not like Griese. His constant dinking and dunking just drove me nuts. Jay Cutler on the other hand is the real deal. He's going to be a sensational QB for Denver, but the fans do not appreciate him at all.

Really? From an outside point of view, I though Griese was the somewhat mentally abusive rebound relationship but enough time had passed from now after Elway for another true, committed relationship with the right QB.

New York Heroes:

Joe Namath, Lawrence Taylor, Harry Carson, Phil Simms, Bill Parcells, Eli Manning

Dave Krieg (I don't agree with this one)

Krieg is universally loved in Seattle. At least I thought he was. He never won a super bowl, but winning the 1983 playoff game in Miami gets him a pass.

For San Francisco, I'll ignore the past, as it's big and everyone knows it.

For present, we're starved for heroes, so any player that proves he really belongs in the NFL gets the status. Gore and Willis are the first to come to mind.

For Goats, while Alex Smith is the obvious worthy candidate, the true goat is John York, the owner. After Eddie Debartalo, any owner (not named Rooney or Mara) would have a hard time living up to his standards. But this putz just exudes incompetence, unfortunately.

Surprisingly, Nolan really isn't in the Goat category. There is less patience now that he's done absolutely nothing after 3 years, but the popular opinion is that York screwed the team up so bad that nobody could have done that much better. Don't know if it's true, but that is the perception.

 Seriously?I'll admit we/I tend to defend Snyder to outsiders the way a family would defend an embarrassing relative to outsiders. It's ok for us to make fun of him, but we don't always take kindly to outsiders making fun of our owner. But, don't let that confuse you into thinking Skins fans love Snyder.

Bengals:

Current

Hero - Carson Palmer, Willie Anderson

Goat - Chad Johnson, Marvin Lewis

All-Time

Hero - Anthony Munoz, Boomer Esiasion, Sam Wyche

Goat - way too many to name, but the biggest goat starts at the top, MIKE BROWN
