I can pick up any hitter regardless of position to sub in for Kinsler.

They will remain on my bench after he comes back to sub for any other DL'ed players.

I won't be able to make any other transactions so the new pllayer must be solid for down the stretch as well.

(See rules below if you want more details)

Here's where I rank in the standings right now in the batting categories (out of 11):

BA: 2nd

HR: 3rd

R: 5th

RBI: 2nd

SB: 8th

Thinking maybe I should put a little more emphasis on SB's and R's for my DL sub.

Here's the team...

Active Batters

Ramirez, Hanley SS FLA

Lee, Carlos N. LF HOU

Kinsler, Ian 2B TEX

Markakis, Nick RF BAL

Ibanez, Raul LF PHI

Reserve Batters

Davis, Chris 3B TEX

Young, Chris B. CF ARI

Active Pitchers

Hamels, Cole SP PHI

Shields, James SP TB

Greinke, Zack SP KC

Fuentes, Brian RP ANA

Qualls, Chad RP ARI

Reserve Pitchers

Lilly, Ted SP CHC

Kershaw, Clayton SP LA

RULES SUMMARY

Format

Serpentine draft with players from both AL & NL leagues

Players

5 offensive players (any position)

3 starting pitchers

2 closers

Categories

Basic 8 plus K’s and Runs (a 5X5 format)

Reserve Team

Post draft (in March) the teams will participate in a supplemental on-line lottery draft to draft a four-player RESERVE team of two pitchers and two hitters. Teams must use their reserve players to replace a rostered player who is injured and on the MLB DL. If teams have depleted their reserve players due to injuries to their drafted ten players, then and only then can they claim free agents from the MBL FA pool of players as injury replacements. If a team elects to replace a non-injured rostered player with a reserve team player it must use a "free pass" to do so.

Moves

Add FAs only if players are on official MLB DL, are suspended, get sent to minors, on bereavement, etc. Drop players only when DLed players come off DL. Additionally, teams are granted TWO "free passes" that can be used to make discretionary, unrestricted FA moves. Reserve Moves as described in above rule change proposal. Also, if a RES player is promoted to the active roster to replace a DLed player, and the DLed player is subsequently activated from the DL by a MLB team, the owner must decide which of the two players is returned to the RES squad.

With you needing to gain ground in SB and Runs I like riding Morgan as the hot hand right now, but prepare to look elsewhere.

Also, drop Chris Davis immediately and get Reynolds plugged in your lineup. Davis's upside is basically lower than Reynold's downside.

Mike Young or Morgan would be my choices. Morgan could help u in SB also which you seem to lack.

I'd drop CBY at this point since Davis is killing AAA.. maybe he still comes back to contribute.

Is that a vote for Morgan or Reynolds?I can't drop and add guys at will, I can only make 1 move for the rest of the season.

My vote was for Morgan.I missed the 1 transaction part of your post, generally in that situation I would always pick up the best player available, which would be Reynolds in my opinion, but with it getting close to the end of the season, you need to start playing for first and catching up in your weak categories without losing too much ground where you put up stats all season. Out of the options listed I believe Morgan is the best source for SB and Runs from here on out, but it may also depend on just how far behind you are in those categories if catching up to the pack is feasible. My general strategy is to draft speed and build comfortable leads in the R and SB category early in the season before the power hitters really get rolling mid-summer. Then by the all star break I try to trade for more power or ride guys on hot streaks off the waiver wire.

I chose Ethier. Since he moved in front of Manny in the batting order, he's really taken off.

Nyjer is doing an amazing job and Morales is red hot in Anaheim, but I think Ethier brings you the most to the table with his speed and power.

Edit to add: When I first read this, I thought the title said "Which Hitler should I pick up?" and I was thinking you'd have to go Adolph.

Reynolds gives you speed, power and ,this year, average. Abreu is next on the list, but a little older. Then Ethier, Morales and Young. I voted Reynolds but any of those five is a solid pickup.
