I have a hard time understanding how last place is ever better. Me, you, and 38 other guys from the board could finish in last place.

You can only control the games you are asked to play in. A champion can always rest on their having accomplished the only goal they were asked to reach. They have proven that they can do that.A last place team has proven nothing, except.
