Which KC TE to own (1 Viewer)

I would think Moeaki...Boss is the 90s version of Mark Bruener (can catch pass when needed, but much better in the blocking game). Moeaki put up very nice numbers for a TE (let alone a rookie) in 2010. Boss will literally get you nothing no matter how deep your league is. If you are scraping the TE barrel, you may as well go with the guy with the most upside.

Excerpt from Peter King's observations from 2011:

The player I was most impressed with: Tight end Tony Moeaki. I'll be writing more about him in the coming days, but what interested me is the Chiefs' aggressive use of him in passing formations -- as a slot receiver, a blocker tight to the formation, and set out wide. He's their Dallas Clark.
Second Excerpt from 2011:

One can see how much Cassel gravitates to Moeaki. He's Dallas Clark. The way Peyton Manning flexes Clark tight and wide and in the slot is the way Kansas City wants to use Moeaki, who had 47 catches a year ago but could have 80 in this offense if he stays healthy, which has been a problem at times for him in college and the NFL."You can make Moeaki whatever,'' said Haley. "You can make him Wes Welker if you want.''

And on one set, huge tight end Leonard Pope was a sixth offensive lineman, lined up next to the right tackle, and Moeaki was in the slot.

"I try to learn everything,'' Moeaki said after practice. "I want my position coach to have confidence that they can put me anywhere and have confidence in me to run the play right.''

I told him he looks like Dallas Clark, the way he was used in this practice. "I watch a lot of Dallas Clark film,'' he said. "We both went to Iowa, and so it's good to be able to see what he's been able to do in the NFL. I watch him to see how he gets open against all different defenses. That's helped me.''
Keep in mind that Peter King has made some bad calls at times and Haley is no longer running things in KC and Boss has some ability to catch the ball, but based on some of this - I would lean towards Moeaki as the choice.

I was just about to start a Kevin Boss thread. Cassel is looking for Boss and McCluster on short patterns all preseason. Boss was one of the better TE's in the league at one point. The Giants couldn't protect Eli so they made him block more which kill him as far as fantasy goes. Boss is the one to own from what I see, not Moeaki.

I commented in another thread about Moeaki and how I like him as a sleeper this year if he stays on the field. Even with Boss there I really like what he can do. It's just a matter of if they gameplan for him. From what "ShaHBucks" says above it sounds like they aren't (I'm assuming you've watched all their preseason and/or follow the team closely).

It's too bad. I really like Moeaki's skills.
