Which Pass Rusher from the 2012 Draft will have the Best Rookie Season (1 Viewer)

The 2012 Draft was deep with Pass Rushers and I was just wondering who everyone thought would have the best rookie season? Here are some of the top names: Bruce Irvin (Seahawks), Quinton Coples (Jets), Melvin Ingram (Chargers), Shea McClellin (Bears), Chandler Jones (Patriots), Whitney Mercilus (Texans), Nick Perry (Packers), Courtney Upshaw (Ravens), Andre Branch (Jaguars), or someone else. I don't know how to create a poll, but anyone who can please feel free to do so.

Since you asked for "pass rusher"... Irvin & McLellin with about 9 sacks each.

A couple 3-4 OLB have skills, but typically (all apologies to the 49ers Aldon Smith who didnt even start) it takes a year to grasp the concept.

Melvin Ingram has those skills, but no faith in the Chargers coaching staff with a 3-4 pass rusher. Merriman was drafted and coached by Marty Shottenheimer.

Also Coples will be the first ever 285 pound 3-4 OLB. If the Jets switch up there Defense to allow him to play as an exotic End, that would help.

Just saw an interview with Jets DC Mike Pettine - They hired Karl Dunbar from the Vikings as their new DL coach which is a huge upgrade since their last DL coach was really a secondary guy and green as a coach...Jets have 5-6 solid DL now with 2 1st round picks the last 2 years In Wilkerson and Coples.. With Pouha, Kenrik Ellis, Devito and Dixon....Thru the whole talk he refered to Coples as one of his DE "Bookends"."we will probably lean this year more towards 4-3 but, our strength is multiple fronts based on what the offense is doing"Sacks are tough to predict in such a system since he's not really a designated pass rusher but, the rush comes from "wherever".... But, "we are prepared to get to the QB this year with more 4 man rushes".

Antwan Barnes had 11 sacks last year. Antwan Barnes.

Coples will probably not be used at OLB. He will be used as a 5-tech on 1st and 2nd down and he will bump inside to DT on nickel downs. Coples vs a guard is a great matchup. I don't know if he produces insane sack numbers but he could have a career like Shaun Ellis or Trevor Pryce. something like 7 or 8 sacks a year.

as for which rookie, I'd pick Mercilus. He was clearly the best pass rusher in college last year and could have an Aldon Smith like impact.

Jones, overall, just based on how many opportunities he is going to be able to be used in.

Per snap on the field, Vinny Curry. This guy can finish once he's in the backfield. I doubt he gets to play enough to be a guy you would use each week, but if you're just swinging for a sack on a particualr week, I think he gets 6-7 just in a rotation.

And he got to grow up and learn the ropes in the Ravens system.
