Houston and Smith have been (surprisingly) capable. C.C. Brown still blows chunks. Delmas is healthy again. The D-line covers a multitude of sins.LB should be the #1 need, but would love to find a starting OL as well.Watching the Lions this year is a lot of fun. It also seems like they did very well in picking up Alphonso Smith. If they could get a stud corner or a very good OL they could be a scary team to deal with
Yeah, Id say C.C certainly earned his nickname of Can't Cover with the Giants. A lot of mocks I've seen have the Lions looking at Peterson of LSU or Carimi from Wisconsin. Although with the way the Lions have been playing there's no guarantee they'll get a top 10 pick and they might just go with a LB in the first.Houston and Smith have been (surprisingly) capable. C.C. I think they make the playoffs next yearAdd a little bit to the OL, draft some corners, and this team could be very good. The offense is on its way to being pretty good already, and the DL is nasty.
The biggest needs right now in order: linebacker, safety opposite delmas. another corner or two would be great--and I sure don't see them passing on that if that's the best value at the spot they draft--but Alphonso Smith (in particular) and Houston have been doing a solid job. This team isn't that far from really really taking off. As it stands, I don't see any team doing cartwheels about having to play Detroit in these last 9 games, especially in Detroit.Add a little bit to the OL, draft some corners, and this team could be very good. The offense is on its way to being pretty good already, and the DL is nasty.
Maybe my memory is incorrect, but I don't think this is the case for the Patriots. Besides Laurence Maroney, I can't think of any RB that NE drafted in the first 3 rounds over the last several years.Schwartz is building his team and/or his influence is getting the point across. That DL being stocked is similar to both NE and TEN where he's coached.
I would not be surprised if they went OL often. He understands the importance of trenches and I'm sure every Lions fan just loves that DL and understands now too.
I believe one of the Titans safeties will be a free agent. If so, I'd imagine he makes a run at a pro bowler he's familiar with.
The Titans and Pats have gone with experienced LBs over rookies almost always. I doubt they draft an impact LB, but try to get that via free agency.
At least once in this April's draft the Lions can genuinely draft the BPA and Lions fans should be doing cartwheels knowing that.
Here's another trend but it might make your skin crawl-both the Titans and Pats have spent high picks on RBs when it seemed they already had plenty. It might seem like drafting BMW after Charlie and Roy but, the point is to try for an all-world talent.

Well Maroney was drafted when they had Dillon and Faulk-a nice one-two punch.Further, they had Amos Zeroue IIRC and Pass. Not sure I'm right on Amos but Pass has gotta be. He was a decent young runner. There was no need but for the aforementioned shoot for the stars approach.Maybe my memory is incorrect, but I don't think this is the case for the Patriots. I don't wanna search for it, but I started a thread a while after he was hired and it was how impressed I was with him. IIRC he took the team or some players to business so they could meet them and start to get to know the Lions and change the whole bad taste in the fans mouths. You wrote "playoffs" and "Lions" in the same sentence. Can I put you on the spot and ask you what you think of Schwartz then?ETA oops I ...well you know what I meantthat week 1 Calvin no TD really ruined their season. If they get that TD they are a borderline playoff contender in this weak NFC
Dillon was 30+ years old and averaged 3.5 yards per carry the year before Maroney was drafted, Faulk was/is a 3rd down RB, Zeroue was a nobody out of the NFL and Patrick Pass was a FB with ~100 career carries at the time which was his 6th season. And even if it was a "shoot for the stars" pick, it was just a one time occurrence which doesn't constitute a trend. So I wouldn't say Schwartz's team draft history suggests he'll spend another high pick on a RB. If anything, I'd say Jahvid Best was the "shoot for the stars" RB pick.Well Maroney was drafted when they had Dillon and Faulk-a nice one-two punch.Further, they had Amos Zeroue IIRC and Pass. Get used to Suh! 6.5 sacks already, almost one a game. Does anyone know the record for most sacks in a season by a DT?Sandeman said:As a Packer fan, I am very concerned that, with a couple moves or draft picks, Detroit will compete for the division title each year for several years in a row.
Keith Millard had 18 in 1989. That is the recordSapp had 16.5 one year.Randle played about 2/3rds of his career at DT, best year was 15.5.Can't think of any other DTs off the top of my head, think those guys are 1-2.
