I did a few of these last year but wanted to wait a couple of weeks before doing them this year to get some real targets under the belt (also buried myself with three new business projects). Anyway these were really fun to do last season and I learned a lot (didn't put it properly into practice though as I profiled Antonio Brown early and then gave up on him too soon. I do this on NFL game rewind and using FBG game logs to find the times of the plays. Not watching the full game, just the specific profiled player's targets.
Anyway here is what I see so far from Brandon Lloyd. He was hyped here but really isn't anything more than an WR3 on the scoreboard so far so in an effort to dig a little further I thought he'd be a good target.
Game 1 vs. Tennessee
1 7:19 0 - 3 1st-and-10 Ball on Tennessee 48 - Incomplete pass. Pats did double reverse play action and had Lloyd wide open deep. For some reason he quit on the route and was trying to backpedal for the ball. It missed by about a foot. If he keeps running, we are looking at a 48 yard touchdown on his very first catch of the season. That catch alone would have him in the top 10 for YTD fantasy points. It was that close guys.
2 14:13 7 - 3 1st-and-10 Ball on Tennesse 20 - Wow. This is classic Brandon Lloyd right here. Deep route, ball traveled 30 yards in the air off playaction. This was the first play from scrimmage after a pick so they thought about this one a bit. Just a nice play by Lloyd on the sideline dragging his feet to stay in there.
2 6:49 14 - 3 1st-and-10 Ball on New England 48 - Nice little sideline pattern here. We used to call this the "Short 7" on the playground. Quick little "move the chains" type of play.
3 10:16 21 - 10 1st-and-10 Ball on New England 20 - Brady was pressured, looked like it came out a bit early. Lloyd had a shot at it but it was really low and would have only gone for 7 yards.
3 7:13 21 - 10 1st-and-10 Ball on New England 41- Another sideline pattern. Just like the play in the 2nd Quarter. First down, move the chains.
3 5:46 21 - 10 3rd-and-2 Ball on Tennessee 40 - Over Lloyd's head with pressure to Brady. Tight coverage.
3 2:24 21 - 10 1st-and-10 Ball on Tennessee 26 - Quick hitter. Lloyd turned and Brady through immediately. Lloyd with a nice hurdle to gain 2 yards. Basically a run play.
4 8:24 28 - 13 2nd-and-7 Ball on New Englad 40 - Nice little back shoulder throw. Showed good chemistry in tight coverage. Reminded me of a Jordy Nelson type catch here.
Game 2 vs. Arizona
1 3:12 0 - 6 2nd-and-9 opp 35 - Corner playing way off. Brady hit him right at the line. Lloyd dances and then takes three yards.
1 2:30 0 - 6 3rd-and-2 opp 28 - Incomplete. Encroachment free play. Brady tried to hit him right as he crossed the LOS. Defender was all over Lloyd.
2 14:59 3 - 6 2nd-and-9 own 49 - Incomplete.
