Who do you consider a better fantasy player>? (1 Viewer)

In one of my leagues, I AM player B. I have dominated with a run of division titles, double-digit win seasons, and solid runs in the playoffs (just never winning the big game). And this isn't a league of guppies for the most part. There is no way in heck I would want to be player A, because I KNOW I'm better than that owner, I just have not been fortunate enough yet to win one.
Looks like player B only made the playoffs 2 out of 4 years. That's hardly "dominating".
You're right, I'm better than player B in this thread.I was just taking that example and putting it into my circumstances. I'd rather be me than some other person that had one good run.

I think tht it is dependant on the teams that they have amassed, and how they got were they are. Team B has been consistant, but can't win the big game. Team B sucked, but then came back t win the Championship. Personnally I would want my name on the trophey, as long as I did not mortgage away everything for 1 year to get it.

This may sound harsh. But i would want to be player A. He wasnt a loser every year. 5th,8th whats the difference...Player b was a loser every season..
agree - I'd rather be the San Fran 9ers than the Indie Colts. That said, the playoffs an dfinishing is irrelevant in H2H single elimination leagues,Whoever wins the regular season is the better FF player - not the one that gets hot three weeks for the playoffs.

I agree with all but the last sentance. Planning and drafting with some foresight to the playoffs is part of the FF game. I am not saying that getting hot for three weeks doesn't happen, and more often then we all here probably care for. However, just a quick search on the board and in the articles on this site alone shows that planning for the playoffs in your draft and in season management of WW and trades is a crucial and important part to factor into a FF players skill. I see plenty of players do well for 10 weeks and then die off during the playoff push due to poor trades/lack of workon trades/WW (complacency/fear of making a move when 8-2 or 9-2 happens all the time). This type of owner is not necessarily the better all around FF player. Maybe a better drafter, but drafting is not anywhere near the entire equation to being the better FF player. As far as the question. Player A is not the one I personally would like to vote for, but he did win the championship and has his name on the trophy. I don't think I'd have as much fun sucking so bad 3 out of 4 years, however. Imagine he does that consistently. In 12 years in a 12 team league the guy will have 3 championships. 25% of the leagues titles won would bring mad props and a nice xmas bonus check every 4 eyars for a new TV/Couch/PC, etc (just too name a few things I and others I know have bought with FF winnings). The other guy...no titles, no glory and barely making his league fees back. Maybe better, but Marino may be better then Montana too.

This is way more split then I had anticipated it to be.
Which makes it an excellent question. :thumbup:Team B has a better manager. Many would want to win the ring at least once, which makes them lean to the "I want to be Team A" camp. That's a different question entirely.I would say B is the better fantasy player. A is the more fortunate player. This is much like the debate of whether you'd rather be the QB that wins the Super Bowl once and has a mediocre season (Trent Dilfer) or a Hall of Famer than never wins the big one (Dan Marino). Marino is, by far, the better QB. But many would want the hardware.

I would rather be consistent and in the playoffs each year. Much like poker, catching a gut-shot straight draw on the river now and then doesn't make you a good player. I tend to think long term. You'll pull down plenty of titles if you consistently make your playoffs.
:goodposting: Awesome post, actually. Consistency gets you in the playoffs. And, once you are in the play-offs anything can happen in FF.I've never finished below .500, and missed the playoffs in FF, and that's primarily due to having a good balance of consistent, underrated vets on my team. In recent years that has included, Garrison Hearst, Tiki (Not the past year), Westbrook, DDavis, Curtis Martin (Not last year), Rod Smith, Toomer (Not the past year or two), Kennison, McCardell, Trent Green, among MANY others. You have to have several of these safe picks on your team, or the long-shot hits will cancel out the long-shot busts, and you'll have a mediocre team.
:goodposting: Last year, I AVERAGED a full 10 points per game better then the second highest guy, and won 2 more games then the second highest win total, but lost my Championship when I had to sit Edgerrin James (Since he was making only a token appearence in his real game) and watched my opponents RB have one of his best games of the year.Getting to the playoffs every year takes skill. One championship and 4 badly losing seasons doesn't.You guys are both on target and in the money. Consistency is king and while A sucks and got lucky, B is better but still sucks. They are both losers in my book but I'd rather be B. B will have more fantasy fun throughout the season because he'll still be in the running for the entire season. Championships are important but you can't tell me it's about the money because there are plenty of ways to make money that are far more profitable than fantasy football.
B sucks even though there's a good chance they were in the playoffs every year? I think people underestimate the amount of luck that goes into winning in the playoffs.
