Who had the biggest fall from grace this football season? (1 Viewer)

Donovan McNabb was traded within the same division, only to be benched at the end of the season. The head coach also called him dumb and fat.

Randy Moss is one of the most talented WRs to ever play the game, but he cried about wanting an extension, so he got tossed around like a hot potato.

Favre led his team to the NFC championship last season, only to suck the entire year and end up getting hurt at the end of the season and not sniff the playoffs.

Which one fell the hardest? Why?

gotta be Favre.

McNabb you could see coming.

Randy was a surprise but if you looked deeper at 2009 he seemed to re-gress

Favre's hung on 1 season too long

All of them fell from grace. I would rank them.

1. Favre- Kept chasing the holy grail and it was his undoing in the end. It was amazing at how one of the most popular NFL players turned into one of the most hated late in his career.

2. McNabb- McNabb proved the Eagles were right in getting rid of him. Looked like and older, slower, heavier version of himself. Did not help himself for the upcoming FA market. The NFL is so in need of QBs that he will find a home in Minny or Arizona for a year or two.

3. Moss- I ranked Moss third because I don`t think anyone was surpised that Randy had a melt down. If Moss would have played hard for the Pats in the final year of his deal he would have ended up with good stats and been a somewhat attractive FA. Randy self-destructed his career.

Has to be Favre...guy lost his season, his streak, his health, his dignity and, by many accounts, his marriage.

If you include off-field then Favre. His legacy is different now - slightly - due to the cellphone stuff. On-field, everyone knew he was beat up and old, and you can't blame him for getting even more beat up given how old he is.

If you're just talking about on-field then Moss. He didn't start any of the last 4 games and had a total of 1 catch. I'd expect McNabb to have more suitors than Moss this offseason, even though Moss was more of an elite player than McNabb going into the year.

I vote for Moss. He went from Top-5 WR to borderline worthless. And for the most part he has no injury or quarterback excuses to fall back on. (True, he didn't have much to work with in Tennessee, but he was toast by then.)

Favre was at least semi-respectable when both he and his WRs were healthy.

As for McNabb......you can't consider it a "fall" from grace when he was already on a downward trend.

From a fantasy perspective, if you started Favre or McNabb every week, you probably got 60% of the points that you would have expected to get. But if you started Moss every week, you were lucky to get 20% of the points.

Farve by a mile.

If you look at how he would have been thought of if he'd never returned, if his last game was the conference championship, to how he's thought of now... oof.

 BINGO. This states my thoughts almost perfectly. Favre's on-field demise was not much of a surprise. McNabb's fall from grace waqs a bit less expected, but many argued that he was well past his prime. Moss was a consesus top 5 WR coming in....NOBODY predicted that kind of fall (on field).

Randy Moss, he just completely disappeared and got traded to 3 different teams like a piece of trash. He did next to nothing in Minnesota and absolutely nothing in Tennessee. You could argue Farve but Farve haters already hated Farve, they didn't need this to hate him anymore. People that admire Farve are going to continue to admire him. On field Farve battled to play till the very end.

Moss. Professional suicide.

Favre gets an honorable mention. His fall in the public eye exceeds Randy's but he was at the end of his career regardless.

Moss wanted a big contract. He seemed to have some career left.... Now, not so sure.

McNabb... certainly lower profile than the others. Who knows? maybe with a commitment to conditioning, etc. Donovan can find 2-4 seasons of redemption. That certainly won't happen for Favre and doubtfully for Randy.

when was McNabb in 'grace' to begin with, I don't recall him ever being a great or even top 5 QB in any season except the one in which he had T.O. and the Eagles went to the SB, other than that one season, McNabb has been nothing but average.and he's a flake..he's always been off-kilter...fall from grace would be like Brady, P. Manning, etc, not McNabb..Favre has been falling from grace for the better part of the past 5 years nowMoss has always been a sketchy dude, so he wasn't really in good graces to begin with..from the pre-draft reports about him, to him falling at the draft because of it...

Gotta go with Moss on this one. Those of us who weren't blindly optimistic about Favre could see the on-field failure coming (he was 41 years old and literally had to be begged to come back. Basically guilted into not retiring). With McNabb.... I don't see how anyone thought he'd succeed, particularly with such a dysfunctional and badly run team like Washington.

Moss' career suicide came out of nowhere though. Had some moments of weakness and greed as a Patriot, and looked to regret leaving while having no heart the rest of the year after the got his wish. Could end up having a huge impact on his career stats and how early he retires.

Moss got traded once then released. It seemed he thought Childress was a clown and wanted out of Minnesota.

Or they talked him into returning after he was leaning toward retiring.
Agreed, I don't really put too much fault on him for coming back. The media talked up his 2009 season all year and off-season, every prominent Vikings player was begging him to come back, and basically the entire state of Minnesota was pouring their hearts out trying to get him to play again (remember all those fan-sponsored bilboards and signs?) That's a lot of attention and pressure, anyone calling him an idiot for playing again should first try and tell themselves that they wouldn't cave and do the same thing.

Don't like the word grace in this context but it's probably Moss.

I gotta say though I was thoroughly impressed and surprised at how mature he was toward Britt and others sounded like they were talking about a different person than we've heard of before. Moss might have grown up and become mr. responsible so I might regret him as my choice here
