Who has anything to play for in Week 17? (1 Viewer)

New Orleans is playing for something as well. They're in with a win and losses by Washington AND Minnesota. Since New Orleans plays at 1 and Washington/Minnesota each play at 4, New Orleans will go into that game needing a win to stay alive.

Which then raises the question -- is Jim Sorgi and the backups good enough to beat the first string Titans? I veryhighly doubt Manning and Co. will play more than a few series. No need to.

you may be right, but I think Peyton plays the whole first half, they have a bye and I dont think you want to be rusty given that you would have essentially 3 weeks off

Lots of teams, coaches and players are playing for things...

*** Their jobs

*** Incentives

*** Potential extensions/free agency deals

*** Pride

*** A sense of ending the season on a roll

Jason, could you elaborate on how you think these things might determine how much the Indy starters play specifically? When talking about Tenn's chances on ESPN this morning one analyst insisted Payton and the starters would play the first half and possible have the game well in had at that point. The other analyst insisted Payton plays only the first series giving Tenn a big chance to win that game. Which way do you see it? TIA

Tony Dungy has a history of resting his starters in games that don't matter:http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play...nPe00_games.htm

I would be surprised to see guys like Addai or Manning out there for a full game; but I also don't think he'll rest them completely since they have a bye week looming.

Even though they wrapped up the AFC West, San Diego i splaying for the No. 3 seed. If they beat the Raiders in Oakland it is theirs. If they lose and Steelers win, SD goes to the No. 4 seed and will play the Jaguars. If SD loses and Pitt loses, SD gets the No. 3 by virtue of tie breaker.

Even though the Packers have nothing to play for I am betting that with a bye the following week Favre and company would like to play a lot better than they did against the Bears so they have a bit of mo going into the playoffs.

Jason, I assume that the Eagles will be playing all out to win in Week 17 and finish 8-8 on a 3 game win streak. Do you concur?I am still alive in high stakes Survivor Pool and have had the resurging Eagles earmarked as my pick for the last few weeks.

Per CBS Sportsline, McCarthy has concurred with this approach to Week 17 -- look good and

Cleveland needs to win because Tenn/Indy is the night game.

Oh, and Ryan Grant is a must start. Needs 105 yards for 1000 rushing.

Now THAT is a good one. That would be a huge difference there. I don't think anyone wants to play the Jags right now. I could see all the starters playing for as long as it takes (which means, if it takes ALL game, then they play all game). If they jump to an early lead, we might start seeing Turner and then Sproles eventually...Another interesting thing is to see about getting Rivers back on track. They don't want to go into the playoffs with Rivers on a bad streak, with LT and others questioning his skills/leadership. They want to end on a good note...
