Who is benching Steve Smith this week? (1 Viewer)

I just moved Brandon Stokely into my starting lineup while sitting Steve Smith on the bench. David Carr is so bad I just don't see Smith doing much of anything this week against a solid Titans defense

Is anybody else jumping off the Steve Smith bus this weekend, and if so who are you starting over him?

With Walker out and Harrison and Branch probably out I don't have the luxury of benching Smith. However, I only believe he should be ranked in the 30-35 range among WRs this week. So if I had 2 or 3 WRs (depending on your league) ranked in the Top 30 this week I'd start them ahead of Smith without hesitation. I'm hoping he does well but the strong evidence suggests he'll be lucky to top 5-50-0 this week.

PPR League, Kellen Winslow. FWIW...

i'm riding the Steve Smith :11: instead of Cotchery this week. All logic and good sense would dictate starting Cotch but I can't bring myself to sit Smith and watch him take one or more short slants to the house.

This is my problem with Smith, Driver and Bowe (Berrian on bye)_. I guess I could throw Mason in in Smiths place, but I'm leaning towards Smith/Driver or Smith/Bowe.But the Smith part of it kills me a little more each week.Dude has to be the WR bust of the year (yes, I know it isn't necessarily his fault).

Benching him for Santonio. I'm not happy about it, but both Baltimore corners should be out. Anyone but David Carr!

Playing him over Roddy White. My hope is that if he doesn't fire, Wayne and Colston will do enough in the other WR spots to balance it out.

I can't bring myself to bench him when a 2yd pass can turn into an 80YD TD at any given moment................FF is great isn't it

I've finally benched him. He and Carr just aren't on the same page. I'm starting Driver in his place and I'm not thrilled with Driver's production as of late.

Really struggling with this one. Have CJ, S. Smith, Cotchery and Galloway (start 3). CJ is for sure. Cotchery and Galloway are ranked 10 slots ahead of Smith this week. I'm probably starting Cotchery for sure just because he figures to get 15 targets with Coles out. Galloway vs. Smith is the tough one.

Hard to sit Smith though - even going against my defense.

I usually never bench him but in several leagues I have good alternatives so I'm going with that. I'm starting Galloway and Lee Evans over him but not Curry or Roddy White

I'm doing the opposite. I love Cotchery with Coles out and Clemens at QB, particularly in a PPR league. My league allows teams to start 4 WRs and I still have Smith on the bench behind Cotch, Galloway, Driver and now Stokley. I hate these decisions

I already have one of those guys starting in Galloway. Having to rely on 2 of them is too gut wrenching

I don't have an option which means he will struggle. If I had an option and sat him then he would blow up for 200/3.

Starting TJ and Welker over Smith this week. Have been starting Smith over Welker and leaving points on the bench every week. Luckily it hasn't cost me a game.

I'm sure this week it will turn around and I will get burned, but at least I'm playing the team with Brady, so if Welker has a bad game it might mean Brady was human today.

Starting Brandon Marshall over Steve. As a previous poster stated, S. Smith has cost me a few games already this year. Just want to make sure I get something.

Not a SS owner, but I think most of you will regret the decision. One long TD makes the week and he has the market cornered. Carr is obviously a concern, but I think Smith is still right at that Top 20 ranking and tough to bench in most leagues (especially Start 3).

My philosophy, i would rather have him score me 3-5 points in my lineup than 40 on my bench, just too talented to sit him. Just takes on play for an 80yd TD.

all you guys who benched Smith are much smarter than me. I don't know why I can't get it through my head, Carr KILLS ANY WR. He is absolutely horrible. I bet the Titans get 7-10 sacks today. SO far I think they have at least 3, in the first Quarter.

Won't really say that Carr kills WR's, AJohnson was pretty good with him. But Carr does officially suck now, thought it was just Hou, but it is definitely Carr.

I had Smith on my bench for L. Evens right up until game time. At the last min. I went back to Smith.....whoops.

I benched Smith for the first time this season, and started Wayne, Curtis, and Cotchery over him.

Benched Smith for Holmes. Carr is absolutely wretched. I can't believe he has the nerve to actually wear gloves on both hands.

Started him over Galloway - doh!

And it was probably the right decision. I'll probably do the same again next week.

I left him on my bench for Colston and Evans. Those two already have a good game under their belts and have another half to go :sadbanana:

If this OL would block, Carr would look like....well......um....wait a minute, Carr is the worst EVER. Why is this guy employed? He could be the worst ever #1 pick that can fool (horribly run) NFL personnel departments into thinking he can play QB.

This move made the difference in my game. Won by 1 point. I don't get the thought of waiting for Smith to have a "break out" game, while getting week after week of under 10 points. Games in my league are way too close, gotta get some points. Let someone else on your team "break out"

Sat him for Greg Jennings. ANd will continue too until I'm given a reason not to. David Carr might be the worst qb i've ever seen in the NFL. he is absolutely awful.

Here's a misleading stat: in my league Smith is still the 10th ranked WR in FF points. Basically all of the points came from 4 games. I haven't learned to bench him yet because he's pulled my team out of a jam before with one big play, but this 1 point a week is killing me.

If I were Steve Smith I believe I would whack David Carr in the knee with a tire iron. Seriously, doesn't Carolina still have Rodney Peete on speed dial?

I honestly believe that I could do as well as David Carr in that offense.
