Who is Don Jackson? (1 Viewer)

I was hoping for clarity on this too, as I saw Rappaport on NFL TA yesterday evening, stating that Jackson would start, but could find no further link or twitter confirmation..  I had already picked up K.Davis and wanted to know if I got the wrong guy..  I'm short an RB wk9 due to BYE-megeddon after drafting J.Charles and CJA.  If anyone has more info, I'm all ears...
Unless you've got Montgomery, I think you've got the wrong guy. I don't see Davis or Jackson having a big day - since Jackson isn't hurt, he's just gonna vulture some of Davis' value.

Not to pee on your cheerios or anything, just calling it like I sees it.

honestly I would guess maybe 30 yards. potentially more if he breaks a long one. maybe a td but I think davis gets those carries.

McCarthy has come out this week saying davis is in their game plan this week.

Jackson playing third fiddle, kind of... not a good scenario to start but I know some are desperate and hoping for like 8 points

Jackson "started" last game too. he was on the starting roster intros but montgomery was in on the first play.

Bell has a bye and mckinnon is injured so I'm deciding between Dwayne and Don for my RB2  :X
I'm in a similar situation with injuries (McCoy, charles) and byes (AB and Wallace) might have to roll with Don over Russell as shepard and Jalin marshall. :X

Welp -- here goes nothing. I should win comfortably (famous last words).  Time to drive the bandwagon.

:drive:

Honestly, Knile being cast off is more a sign of support for Ty than anything. That's how I read it. Or else they discovered Knile sucks and will sign someone else off waivers.

I don't think kniles Davis was what made him suck so far.
Strong words. Jackson hasn't been racking up fantasy points lately but he hasn't been given much of a chance either. 4 carries this week and only 2 carries last week. At least wait to see what the man can do with 10 carries in a game before saying he sucks. With Knile Davis out the way maybe he does get to sniff at least 10 carries. I think Don Jackson is worth a stash in deep leagues but I wouldn't dare to start him yet.

When a guy puts up 1.6 fantasy pts in 2 weeks that means for fantasy purposes he has sucked.

I's also very clear that his coaches view him as just a body to put back there until John Starks returns from injury IMO.  Jackson is young and raw and probably doesn't pass protect all that well which is what is limiting him to anemic workloads every week.  Stark's will be back soon and jackson will fall back to oblivion.

But is a Shooting Guard really what they need?

Yeah -- goes back to my original read on this situation... to me Montgomery is their guy.  Their actions pretty clearly indicate that... they just need him healthy.  Even without him, they gave Jackson 4 carries and Davis 3, then cut Davis.  If you want a Montgomery handcuff, I actually think it might be Ripkowski, who looks like their new John Kuhn.  He can pass pro and run between the tackles.

Ripkowski and Montgomery is probably the backfield moving forward.  I'm still not personally counting on much from Starks.

At this point, I believe I'd rather have Ripkowski than Jackson.  Maybe I'm crazy...

In all seriousness, I agree with @rickyg to a degree. Pointing to Jackson's fantasy stats the first 2 weeks he has received any action is a bit unfair; the first game he got injured on his first carry, is pretty unfair to count that as a "Game." When James Starks comes back I really do think Jackson goes back to the practice squad. They are too injured everywhere else to afford to keep 4 HBs: Starks, Montgomery, Ripkowski, Jackson. They started the season with Starks, Lacy, Ripkowski and they will probably go back to a 3 HB rotation with Starks filling the primary rushing role and Montgomery coming in for the passing downs.

This leads the GB backfield to be a fantasy hell to just avoid, similar to the NYG, but Montgomery's chance of getting 10-15 targets a game is very valuable especially in PPR.

If I had Jackson I'd try to trade him if I could find someone who believed he was actually the starting RB on the team.

Based on the last two games, I don't think anyone believes that. I doubt he has any market at all - maybe in a dynasty one could get a 5th round pick.

Seems like some people still have hope based on twitter postings and TV reports.

Could find a sucker somewhere willing to give up a decent bench player in a multi-player deal

Is there anyone out there who actually thinks this is the case ?  I would hold for one more week to see if there is anything there with Jackson.

The last 2 weeks this thread has sky rocketed to the top of the forum with some tweet about him being the starting RB. Like I said, might be able to put him in as a throw in, but most people probably realize the truth on him. Might see more from him after this week with Davis out of the picture. Might be a great time to sell for anything. Even a kicker...
