Who is Jake Ballard (1 Viewer)

The quick answer is, "he is the guy that you slept on". The Giants have always been a strong TE oriented team; whomever they chose, was going to put up at least serviceable numbers.

thoughts on Ballard moving forward (neglecting the bye week, of course)? 5 for 81 last week makes me pay attention.

Just snagged him for a week 8 bye-week filler...wondering if there is any long term value...I have two TE studs that he will be behind on my team; if Ballard has any value I might be able to package one of those TE's to upgrade elsewhere.

The Giants have always utilized the TE well, but not consistently the last number of years. Boss would always tease you with games like Ballard has had the last 3 weeks. But truth is he won't get the targets to be a consistent TE 1 going forward. He seems to catch the ball well, and find holes in the defense but so did Boss.

Even if I exclude the first 3 weeks of the season, Ballard over last 3 weeks has put up nice numbers, but they are kind of what you would expect out of the Giants TE. Over the last 3 weeks Ballard received 3, 4 and 5 targets for an average of 4 targets per game. Over the course of a season you would get 64 targets. Boss his last 2 years received 69 and 70 targets.

Now Ballard is someone to keep an eye on, but at best he is going to be the 3rd and often times 4th option behind Cruz, Manningham and Nicks. So although he has done well the last few weeks, I don't think he will be anything more then a nice bye week filler. Now, if Cruz struggles with any sort of dropsies or is not filling the slot role well, Ballard may see an up tick in targets, but like I said expect similar number to Boss his last couple of years in NY.
