Who is Scott Chandler? (1 Viewer)

Starting TE, won the job fairly easily during camp against lackluster competition. He's been running with the first team as the starting "receiving TE" during camp. David Martin seems to be the de facto #1 "blocking TE" still, though.

Bills have been running several formations with Chandler spread out as a receiver.

he's a beast, former Hawkeye. Liked him since he was behind Gates, but he's just never really had a shot. Good hands and size, but not much mobility

I can't help but note that Chandler was projected for precisely 0.0 points in the Draft Dominator (12.0m). I don't know if this is a glitch though, because his age is also listed as 0.

And on NFL.com, he's listed as a 3rd year player:
#84 TE Buffalo Bills | Official Team Site Height: 6-7 Weight: 263 Age: 26 Born: 7/23/1985 Bedford , TX College: IowaExperience: 3rd season High School: Carroll HS [southlake, TX
But in the career stats it shows:
2011 Buffalo Bills 1 0 5 63 12.6 19 2 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 2010 Buffalo Bills 4 1 1 8 8.0 8 0 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 2010 Dallas Cowboys 9 0 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 2009 New York Giants 0 0 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 2007 San Diego Chargers 1 0 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

He's a journeyman TE with nice size and pretty good hands. He won the starting TE job rather easily, partially because Shawn Nelson was hurt yet again.

The Bills really like the big receiving targets in their offense this year. I think they especially liked this matchup against KC's smaller LBers and Safeties.

With Buffalo's spread offense, he could end up getting quite a few looks, especially after earning Fitz's trust early.

I believe his first TD came with Eric Berry still in the game, but the second one was after Berry was injured. So it's possible that played some role since Berry is a pretty good safety and the 2nd TD was right down the seam in the redzone.

:goodposting:I remember him in a bowl game a few years ago and remembered the name. Good, big target but not a ton of mobility.

Chandler is Iowa's 2nd all-time in receiving by a TE. Behind only Dallas Clark. He's never had an opportunity before, and is making the most of it now.

The Bills plucked Chandler from Dallas' practice squad near the end of last season. There is speculation that they tricked Dallas into exposing him. Chandler was on the Cowboys' active roster, and Buffalo put a claim in for some other TE on the Dallas practice squad. Rather than lose the other TE, Dallas promoted him to the active roster, and put Chandler on the practice squad. Buffalo quickly pounced & grabbed Chandler.

Anything to see here as far as dynasty is concerned? i know Nelson was supposed to be the guy there, but hasn't been able to keep himself on the field often.

:goodposting: He's not very fast or agile but he is very tall 6'7" and he is one heck of a redzone target, as seen in Buffalo yesterday.

I don't know, that sounds like too smart a move for the Bills front office to pull off.

First the Bills beat a playoff team in their home stadium, now their management is pulling shark moves? :excited:

On his first TD, Eric Berry was in the game, but Chandler boxed him out nicely with his big body and showed his numbers to Fitz in the end zone. He showed some good technique on that haul.

Yes, some guy named Tony Gonzalez in 2008, with Gailey as OC. 96 catches for 1,058 & 10 TDs. Oh, and most of that was with Tyler Thigpen at QB.

Scott Chandler (né Parker) is a fictional character from ABC's daytime drama All My Children. He has recently been portrayed by Adam Mayfield from April 9, 2009 to October 13, 2010. Previously, Scott has been portrayed, most notably, by Daniel Cosgrove from November 27, 1996 to July 28, 1998 and Forbes March from April 19, 1999 to September 14, 2000. He is a member of the powerful and wealthy Chandler family. On September 16, 2010 Mayfield alongside Brittany Allen were let go as Scott and Marissa Chandler in order for the writers to take the characters in a new direction [1] and on September 23, 2010 it was revealed that Cosgrove will be returning as Scott on December 27, 2010. [2].

per wikipedia

:goodposting: "We need a TE""Well Dallas has some good starters, so their cast-offs are probably pretty good.""Okay get one of theirs...""How about this guy.""Oh no! They moved him to their active roster. What now?""All right, whatever, just grab whatever scrub ISN'T on their active roster - otherwise our 11 fans will think we're not doing anything to get better.""Uhhh...okay!"

Iowa keeps churning out TE's.

Love that I was able to get this kid off waivers in the footballguys FPCC. I think those that see a mirage might be a bit surprised come year's end.

Chan loves him:

"I knew that," Bills coach Chan Gailey said. "Nobody else I don’t think did. I thought we had something in Scott Chandler that creates something good for us in the passing game."

Scott Chandler’s day is a revelation for Bills

Also let's not forget that he was stuck behind some pretty good TE's to learn from: Gates, Witten and Boss. He's just now getting his chance.

Chandler is finally getting a shot after being stuck behind such established stars as Antonio Gates (San Diego), Jason Witten (Dallas) and Kevin Boss (New York). And though he didn't get much playing time in his previous stops, Chandler drew from each of his experiences.

"As frustrating as those four years were, they weren't a waste," he said. "There's a lot to learn from those guys, and I soaked up as much as I could."

Gailey again on Chandler and how he presents matchup nightmares:

"I hope they're sitting up at nights worrying about that because the more weapons we have, the more ways we can spread the ball around," Gailey said.

TE Chandler's drive paying off for Bills

By the way, Chandler was profiled in Prospecting this week.

If you ever have a "who the heck is that guy" type questions, shoot them to me more Will Grant and we'll dig up the skinny on them for you.

I'm rolling with Fitz's new toy Chandler today in a flex spot over Mike Thomas and Hartline. (cause i know you care)

Go big guy!!!!
